I want to cancel my membership but need to use up my credits first! I've already paused my membership once in the last year so I can't do that again.

Anyone got any recommendations for good audiobooks? Something that is pretty gripping and easy to get through :)

Thanks so much lovely MNetters

The other thing while you're still a member is the £3 sale.

Credit wise, toni morrison reads her own which is amazing.

One of my favourites is a children's book - montmorency by Eleanor update- because Stephen fry reads it.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 24/05/2021 10:56

I also enjoyed the ragged trousered philanthropists read by David timson

Nearlythere39 · 24/05/2021 10:57

The midnight library by matt haig, interesting and thought provoking without being too heavy.

BuffySummersReportingforSanity · 24/05/2021 10:58

Do you like comedy? If so, go and buy all of Cabin Pressure right now.

ByTheNine · 24/05/2021 10:58

The Rivers of London series - supernatural detective stories, there's loads of them and they're all great.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 24/05/2021 10:59

Mr loverman by Bernadine evaristo

Warsawa31 · 24/05/2021 11:00

Freakanomics - one of my favourite non fiction books ever

CarolandDarryl · 24/05/2021 11:00

I got both of the Obama’s books, Michelle’s was so interesting, Barack’s was a bit more heavy going but still great. I also really enjoyed Kevin Bridges autobiography, very funny, and a book called ‘the locked ward’ by a chap called Dennis O’ Donnell, memoirs from his time working in a locked mental health ward, funny irreverent look at how it all works.

CarolandDarryl · 24/05/2021 11:05

Oh and unnatural causes by Dr Richard Shepherd a criminal forensic pathologist. He conducted many high profile post mortems and gives a fascinating (to me 😂) insight into it all.

FinallyFluid · 24/05/2021 11:06

I bought Michelle Obama and sends me to sleep every time, I have yet to get past chapter three and haven't listened for a while.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to improve my sleep routine, so will park the Nytol and listen to MO. Grin

magicstar1 · 24/05/2021 11:08

I got some classics that I'll listen to over and over in future. The Complete Sherlock Holmes etc.

flowerycurtain · 24/05/2021 11:10

You can pause it again if your ring audible.

twilightcafe · 24/05/2021 11:13

I've really enjoyed:
The Beatles In Time and Ma'am Darling - both by Craig Brown.
Me by Elton John
Lady in Waiting by Anne Glenconner
C by John Diamond

Stripey3000 · 24/05/2021 11:13

The Strike series by Robert Galbraith. There are 5 books in the series and I couldn't switch them off. Griping, engaging, and I'm on my 2nd listen of the lot.

morekidsthanhands · 24/05/2021 11:16

If you haven't read it already the thursday murder club is really good as an audio book.
I also reccomend the 7 husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Strike series, Rivers of London series or Slough House series. All very entertaining.

Hankunamatata · 24/05/2021 11:25

I'm loving outlander books on audible. Not type books I'd read but the narrator is great and story line great. Bit raunchy in places.

DarceyDashwood · 24/05/2021 11:28

IF you are a fan of the film The Princess Bride I honestly can’t recommend As You Wish - the making of - highly enough. It brought me so much joy on lockdown walks last year. It’s written by/narrated by Cary Elwes who played Westly and all the cast are interviewed. If you like the film it’s an absolute treat!

Also if you’re an Agatha Christie fan there’s some great options for Marple and Poirot where you get about 6 books in one audio book - so a really bargain! I love zoning out and listening to them on a sun lounger somewhere hot (hope I get to do that again some day!)

musicinspring1 · 24/05/2021 11:30

Do you have children ? I spend all my audible credits on them and they listen to a book at bedtime - saves me loads of time Wink Favourites are the Harry Potter series read by Stephen Fry
If not I would also go classics - books you’ve always wanted to read / inspirational books that are daunting to read but easier to listen to ....
