How often do you eat meat?

I significantly reduced my meat consumption a couple of years ago, now having it about once a month. Planning to increase it again though, to once or twice a week, to boost heme iron.

How often do you eat meat? Have you ever reduced/ increased, and did you feel any different?

Usually 6 days a week - one day is deliberately fish/vegetarian. I have beef and lamb farmers in my family so not only do I feel I should eat meat, I sometimes receive cuts from them. Only ever buy my own from the butcher.

JellyTumble · 22/05/2021 18:33

Two meals a day, every day. Sometimes three times a day.

I love meat. I see no convincing argument to stop eating it 🤷‍♀️

TidyDancer · 22/05/2021 18:34

Never. Last time was about 20 years ago. Couldn't and wouldn't go back to it.

ginoclocksomewhere · 22/05/2021 18:35

A couple of times a month, if that.

Starlightstarbright1 · 22/05/2021 18:37

Probably have meat free once or twice a month.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 22/05/2021 18:37

Most days in some form. It's either actual meat or fish or bone broth or bit of salami in a salad.
But not in all meals. Breakfasts are veggie, lunches often too, dinners alternate depending on lazyness and ehat I fancy. I really like veg so cooking without meat few times a week is no punishment

Meowchickameowmeow · 22/05/2021 18:40

Never, I haven't touched meat for 36 years.

Egghead68 · 22/05/2021 18:42

Not since I was 13

kikisparks · 22/05/2021 18:42

Never (since infancy at least). No animal products for over a decade. Had bloods done 2x in last year and both times everything was fine.

Mintjulia · 22/05/2021 18:44

I've been gradually reducing our meat consumption and moving to less environmentally damaging meats.

We now have two suppers a week vegetarian plus at least one fish. I don't buy beef any more, buying pork instead, and buy chicken thighs rather than breast.

I wfh now and all my lunches are meat free although I do eat cheese.

LeafBeetle · 22/05/2021 18:45

6 days a week

SomewhereInbetween1 · 22/05/2021 18:47

bitheby · 22/05/2021 18:47

Probably 3 or 4 times a week, sometimes more, sometimes less

StevieNix · 22/05/2021 18:55

I used to eat a hell of a lot of meat, definitely at least one meal every day if not more. Now we eat a meat-free dinner 3 times a week, and a fish meal one meal a week; and then obviously meat for the remaining days. I actually really enjoy eating this way now, and it helps keep food costs down as well as our meat free meals work out really cheap. Lentil Dahl curry is a current favourite!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 22/05/2021 18:56

Every day. Usually for lunch and dinner.

ShrikeAttack · 22/05/2021 18:58

Every day, I'm an excellent cook and make delicious vegetarian food. I just really, really like eating flesh. I do buy local, small breed, organic and sustainably fished fish and seafood from proper butchers and fishmongers though.

It's a natural and healthy food. Why wouldn't I eat it if it's humanely farmed/caught.

misslomi · 22/05/2021 18:58

Might be worth checking your B12 as well OP. I was vegetarian (with a year of vegan) for 4 years and my health dipped dramatically. Really fatigued, mouth ulcers, spots. B12 injections and eating meat again made me feel so much better.

Ironically I went veggie/vegan for my health!

Pumpkyumpkyumpkin · 22/05/2021 18:59

Never. We eat fish / seafood probably twice a week.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 22/05/2021 19:00

I eat meat or fish most days

IncyWincyGrownUp · 22/05/2021 19:02

Whenever it suits, so quite often. No plans to alter that.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 22/05/2021 19:03

Sorry, meant to say I was a teenaged vegetarian but ate meat when I moved out of the family home and found that it was quite difficult and expensive to keep up with my ideals on a v low budget and piss poor cooking skills

PurpleDaisies · 22/05/2021 19:04

Never. It’s been at least five years now.

HeyMicky · 22/05/2021 19:06

Twice a week. 2 meat (one chicken and one red meat), two fish/seafood and three veggie meals
