Parents visiting for first time since Jan 2020. I am doing a deep, deep clean.
Tbh can't remember when I last did anything more than a basic 'let's not get cholera wipedown'

I spent most of the last 15 months supporting my colleagues on the front line as am nhs non clinical manager. I basically gave up cleaning and ironing and rest of family took care of what they could. Today I have leggings with a hole and a painting top on and I'm cleaning my house so people can come in and be hugged and tbh I think that sort of sums up the normality I have been longing for.

I thought everyone been obsessively cleaning surfaces and touch points for months

I have my sister coming to visit because DH is seriously ill. She keeps asking if she can do anything. I considering setting her to work...

My neighbour came round for coffee earlier so I did a mad clean of the kitchen where we sat. No hugging but it was really nice.

yes got a friend coming to stay ... admit hasn't dawned on me to do a mad clean, it's clean enough!!

We have guests this weekend. I started cleaning yesterday - did all of upstairs. Tonight I'm planning to do the downstairs and then just touch up on Saturday morning.

Is it strange to be kind of enjoying it? I feel like it's a real event that I'm preparing for, and one that I've really missed!

We're not yet as we've only just been vaccinated, but I did deep clean the bathroom yesterday for the first time in... well, at least a year. Eek. Hopefully my parents will come over sometime soon.

I am visiting this weekend but DP will be here with visitors, we are getting married so in the name of tradition I am off to DD's for the night while DP's DD and her BF are coming to stay with the groom. I am cleaning here while my son-in-law is cleaning at DD's.

It's generally clean house so no need imo. I do spend all that time on food prep. That's where it gets me😂

OP I could have written your post! Parents visiting this weekend for the first time in a very long time, house is a tip, I've just finished work and now need to get home and run around making the house look nice before they arrive. They were aiming to get here at about 2 but my parents are typically 3 hours late for everything so I have some time.
It's nice to have visitors after such a long time but I've been so busy at work that I've had no time to prepare. The front garden is an overgrown mess and I know they will comment on it but there's no way I can sort it out in this weather!

I’ll have a friend over early next week, we still haven’t decided if she comes Monday or Tuesday. I’m secretly hoping it’s Tuesday because that way I have one extra day to mad clean You’re not alone!

. My parents came over earlier in the week and yes I cleaned the bits they would see!

I had friends over last night but did no extra cleaning! House was cleaned as normal last weekend so it was more a case of checking it was tidy.

Have also been working mad hours all pandemic but have no kids so appreciate it's easier to stay on top of things!

We have DH's aunt coming to stay, first time since his DM (her sister) died last January, so it's a long-awaited and lovely stay. Our house is an absolutely kip. I'm supposed to be working (obviously, hence why I'm on here) but I really need to do a wild sweep round to at least get shot of all the bloody piles of washing everywhere!

Arrrgggghh.

I'm going to a black tie dinner outside in a marquee!! I'm super excited but also worried about freezing my tits off...

We have friends coming round for dinner this evening, so I have made several spiders homeless in our conservatory

I’ve got my dad and my little brother coming for Eurovision. I’ve also clearly been watching too much Below Deck, as I’ve decorated the table in an assortment of gold drapery and glittery stars in honour of the occasion 😂

No. Just the two of us having a Eurovision drinking game and nibbles.

We must be unusual! Have worked as normal over the past year and have done housework as normal!!

We have a cleaner once a fortnight on fridays. I only ever schedule visitors for after the cleaner has been so I don't have to clean (I do have to tidy for her coming, though). So parents can't come until next weekend.

Haha yes - thought the house was clean ish but noticing dust now people are coming round
