To ask if anybody else has VISITORS this weekend?

And is cleaning like a woman possessed?

Parents visiting for first time since Jan 2020. I am doing a deep, deep clean.
Tbh can't remember when I last did anything more than a basic 'let's not get cholera wipedown'

I spent most of the last 15 months supporting my colleagues on the front line as am nhs non clinical manager. I basically gave up cleaning and ironing and rest of family took care of what they could. Today I have leggings with a hole and a painting top on and I'm cleaning my house so people can come in and be hugged and tbh I think that sort of sums up the normality I have been longing for.

Next weekend! So this weekend I'll be scrubbing... Grin

BrieAndChilli · 21/05/2021 16:59

we moved house in Feb so luckily ity is still mainly freshly painted and tidy and clean!!!! MIL is probably coming next week and a deep clean wont be necessarty as dirt hasnt had time to be ingrained yet!!
The house we moved from on the other hand - was appalled when we moved furniture like large wardrobes that hadnt been moved in 12 years!!!

reluctantbrit · 21/05/2021 17:08

My cleaner is back since April so in general the house it clean but typically, she had to cancel this week.

DD's best friend is over on Saturday for pizza and movie so I will make sure the bathroom, living room and kitchen are clean. I look forward to have two giggling teens in the house again.

I've really missed having DS1's mates round, such a nice bunch who always made time for a quick chat with me! Grin
FourWordsImMuNiTy · 21/05/2021 17:50

Oh god yes. Four people and three cats in the house 24 hours a day, no visitors to motivate us to clean and tidy and our cleaner quit last April because she also did old age care work. I was tempted to invite friends round for Eurovision but couldn’t face the mess.

FourWordsImMuNiTy · 21/05/2021 17:53

But yes, a house full of giggling teen-aged visitors eating pizza, making hot chocolate and playing board games is a very happy thing to look forward to, and probably worth cleaning up for.

NemoRocksMyWorld · 21/05/2021 18:08

It's my dd's 10th birthday today. I've chucked her dad and brothers out to their gran's house so she can have four friends round. They have teepees and inflatable beds in the lounge. They are currently giggling and eating pizza. I've been relegated to the bedroom!

Definite huge change from previous sleepover last year. I was constantly breaking up fights then and having to sort stuff out! They are much more self sufficient now.

House was immaculate as it is on the market... It now looks like it had been hit by a pre teen glitter bomb! It's lovely to see them together again!

FoolsAssassin · 21/05/2021 18:12

My Dad and partner came this week for first time since December 2019. Much cleaning happened before they arrived ! Was so good to see them again finally. Hope everyone who is having visitors has a lovely weekend.

LemonDrizzles · 21/05/2021 18:22

Yes I did downstairs last week when df came around to see dc1/2 open Christmas/birthday pressies. Now scrubbing upstairs for an overnight visitor.

Mimsytove · 21/05/2021 18:23

Nope, keeping them all out. Im sticking with lockdown normal.

ElaborateSalad · 21/05/2021 18:25

Haha! Yes! I'm on a12.5hr shift tomorrow, so all cleaning must be finished tonight!

We're meeting friends IN A PUB, then they're coming back here for drinks. All legally!

Oh, and we're child-free for the night! I might be a little bit excited...

funnylittlefloozie · 21/05/2021 18:31

Its my mum's birthday on Sunday, and she (and her dog) are coming for lunch. Ive seen her quite a lot during lockdown, but she hasn't seen our new house yet, so I'm really looking forward to it. Plus, hugs!

FangsForTheMemory · 21/05/2021 18:33

Cleaned my house today, just in case a neighbour drops by. It's possible.

drspouse · 21/05/2021 18:45

My mum's coming, the cleaner came on Weds and I'm not doing any more except making sure I hoover the spare room!

TheCanyon · 21/05/2021 19:06

Unfortunately not as we are a 6 person household.

MargosKaftan · 21/05/2021 19:09

@TheCanyon - are you in England? Because then its 6 people or 2 households - that can be any number but must be only 2 households if you go over 6.

MargosKaftan · 21/05/2021 19:10

I dont have guests this weekend, but do feel the "guest clean" panic of you all! I know my house is ok, but there's a difference between clean and guest clean!

SixDegrees · 21/05/2021 19:10

Oh yes.

My house is definitely not visitor ready at the minute. I made a start today while the DC were at school / nursery but there’s still plenty to be done.

Northernlurker · 21/05/2021 19:15

Ok just changing our bed and that's the upstairs done. Few things to do downstairs but generally in good shape now. Dh gone to tip, I need to change out of scummy clothes and go to supermarket!

Nope, Scotland. Think we're 6 folk from 3 households, with the under 12s counting this time. Though I suppose you certainly couldn't accuse us of being lonely or missing folks though Grin we'll be grand to wait til i think next month when dh has had both vaccs and I've had my first.

Minesril · 21/05/2021 20:12

We moved here five months before first lockdown and DS hasn't had a chance to have any of his new friends round yet, but has his first tomorrow! Our cleaner came yesterday but DS wants me to make cupcakes for the occasion.

Northernlurker · 21/05/2021 20:15

Going round supermarket with big grin on my face. People to buy food for!

Northernlurker · 21/05/2021 20:16
