Yes I know this is a goady thread and I’m expecting a flaming but genuinely why? MN have made it easy for us to see all the OP’s comments but why do some people still insist on commenting without reading all the responses?

Then when they realise they’ve been an arse to the OP why don’t people apologise, some do most don’t.

Yes yes again I know I’m being unreasonable, it’s an anonymous forum and people love bashing others behind the safety of their computers (I myself have NC for this! )

On the app I can't see all of the ops replies , so I have to scroll through the whole thing looking for them.

Because they’re too eager to stick their oar in to read it properly?
Because they bring their own assumptions to the situation without making sure they’ve understood what was being said?

If a thread has gone beyond about 3 or 4 pages I usually don't bother to comment.i doubt I've got such startling insight that I'm better placed than the previous 100 or so posters. I can only assume the non readers who contribute think differently.

Some people just want to have their say. I always equate not reading the thread and commenting as speaking without listening.

On the app you can't get it to show just Ops posts but they are in a different colour. I generally do read all the OP posts though.... Guess some people just get trigger happy and become ninja keyboard warriors

Because my advice is always both correct and so original that no other poster can possibly have come up with it!

Lots don't even read the opening post properly, it's a bit much to expect them to read the rest of OPs posts

I only ever use the app and you can filter so that it shows the OP's posts only.

It's very useful when there are hundreds of posts in the thread and it would take too long to read every one!

@Fifthtimelucky are you Android or IOS, I can't filter ops posts unless I use Web browser

Sometimes a thread is 25 pages long or more, and full of lots of replies saying the same thing - not always a post that has significant updates.

And on occasion, I have read one page, commented in a rush then noticed there are more pages.

There was an AIBU about whether or not is was U to like Boris. I didn’t need to RTFT.

I didn't know this was possible for a while and would have had to scroll through everything so I'm sure others are the same.

I'll happily flame you for the word goady though - it really is over used on MN, I've never heard it used in RL - ever. Just read a thread where someone was accused of being goady for not going into enough detail on their original post.

Sometimes it’s if it’s a VERY long thread. I will always, ALWAYS, read all of the OPs posts but won’t necessarily read other posters replies if it’s beyond about 6 pages.

Lots of people on here can’t even read the Original Post properly. It’s bizarre. They’ll accuse the OP of all sorts of things or miss out on vital information (ie age, being married, having a disability, having a child with SEN, being a lesbian, being allergic to a certain medication etc) and add their own useless post (“OP YABVVVVVVUUUU being a SAHM and unmarried”, “Have you tried couch 2 5k?” “Your son sounds very disturbed and shouldn’t be headbanging you should ask the GP for a referral to see if he’s got SEN”, “OP it’s not clear why you are doing IUI with donor sperm is your boyfriend/husband infertile?”, “you should try ibuprofen hun”.”

That’s what I find stranger that not reading the full thread.

I’ve literally read a post just now where the OP said very clearly in her original post that a man was getting his dick out and tried to get her to touch his penis and several posters have challenged her and later said “you didn’t say that/it wasn’t clear from your OP” .

On mobil app at the bottom of the op, it says see OP's next post/see all. And as HectorHalloumi, on ipad it is the little funnel/speaker in the top right.

And yes it's damn annoying, but we have all been there . I find those who only respond to the heading of the thread even worse.
