AIBU?
"Lol!! [zany face] what are men like" do you put up with this?
VladmirsPoutine · 11/05/2021 12:26
I was reading an article earlier via twitter in which a woman had asked her husband to put away the leftovers from dinner. In doing so he put the whole electric rice cooker into the fridge with the remnants of the rice. A lot of people commenting were saying things like "well he did what he was asked" or "I can't see any problem with that." And so forth.
Am I alone in thinking for me this would be grounds for divorce. I mean in that that the 'learned' or 'conscious' incompetence. Why are men, and indeed women putting up with this? They manage very well in their jobs and to go to the pub and maintain knowledge of where their respective football teams are in the league but for whatever reason it's miraculous that for example their baby is still alive after mum leaves for the afternoon and baby is left with father or some such?

@araiwa
What wrong with putting the whole lot in the fridge?
Well my rice cooker is frigging massive and has a big plug on it. I can’t imagine putting an electrical appliance in the moist environs of a fridge is that clever, that’s before we take into account the size of the thing.

Because it's an electrical item. Rice cookers normally have a removable bowl in them where you put the rice - that could go in the fridge I suppose.
But it would be like putting the kettle in the fridge tbh.
But to answer the OPs query I think some women like babying men so they don't have to face what a shit partner they really are.

I was honestly astonished at the amount of women just carrying on as if it's totally fine. I remarked that I would divorce my husband if he did this yet I'm somehow in the wrong. Where do these attitudes come from? I think it was even remarkable that she asked him to put the left overs away. What if she had not... so the rice was just going to stay in the cooker along with whatever else?

I’m amazed that so many women put up with fucking bone idle men and see it as incompetence. There’s about 15 threads a day on it here.
It’s so unattractive. I was seeing a man and went to his house and was SHOCKED at the state of it and he literally didn’t care. I completely got the ick after that as I couldn’t be with someone that gross.

Yes. Men are forever pointing out all the things invented by or built by men as a sign of their superiority yet they are too stupid to master basic housework skills? The women who pander to this nonsense and come out with phrases like what are men like tee-hee irritate the hell out of me. As a pp said they must just enjoy babying their partners or being martyrs.

So many threads on here about shit men. They don't do housework, they aren't great dads (often turns out this isn't the first time they've inseminated a woman), they expect women to pay for nursery or stay home. Honestly, the mind boggles. Then you're overreacting if you think they should LT useless B.
AnneLovesGilbert · 11/05/2021 13:58
There’s a thread on here today where OP says her bloke is a misogynist bastard but there are a lot of them around. As if that in any way means you should stay with one.
It’s tragic.
I’m married but I’d far rather be single than put up with a useless, selfish, lazy, entitled idiot.
Far too often if you say that though you’re told you either don’t know yours in useless yet or that you’re lying, lucky or smug.
While men should be and are responsible for their behaviour, it’s a fact that the women putting up with or actively pandering to this “all men are useless” nonsense are responsible for raising the next generation of useless, lazy, selfish, entitled men and martyred doormat women. It’s shouldn’t be unacceptable to say so.

Every point you make is 100% spot on. Especially the lying, lucky or smug comments - no, I just have standards and won't be a doormat or apologist for another adult's behaviour.
None, not one, of the men in my extended family in any generation behave or think like the useless fuckers so often portrayed on here, that's not down to luck, lies or smuggery.
None, not one, of the women in my extended family in any generation would give the time of day to the useless fuckers so often portrayed on here, that's not down to luck, lies or smuggery.
It is tragic and the comments in your last paragraph should definitely not be unacceptable.

I could never be with one of these “learned/deliberate” incompetent types; I would be grinding my teeth on a daily basis and would certainly never see them as physically attractive. Why would you want another child around??
I’m bringing up my DSs to be competent and to take responsibility for their actions.
