Hi don't really know where to post but wanted to know if by chance anyone on here reads cards and would know what a 3 card combo might mean
Death - The Hangman - The Star

Sweetheart, if you are worried about something, then seek proper support. Tarot is nonsense.

RJnomore1 · 11/05/2021 10:08

It points towards change with a positive outcome. The end of something, having to perhaps sacrifice something, but renewed hope at the end.

I’m no expert though just a dabbler so someone may have a better answer.

WhoWants2Know · 11/05/2021 10:10

Lots of people find tarot a useful tool for meditation and reflection, so I wouldn't agree that it's absolute nonsense. It can give you a different lens through which to view your situation.

That being said, I don't know the meanings of the cards without a cheat sheet.

sal1223 · 11/05/2021 10:14

I never believed in it but certain life events (which I have had professional advise for ) lead to me seeking it out - the death card keeps coming up every time

Mumoblue · 11/05/2021 10:17

I’m also an amateur at reading tarot but I agree with @RJnomore1.
If I’m assuming you’re doing a past-present-future reading it would point to a change having happened, a period of delayed gratification/self sacrifice ultimately with a hopeful and positive outcome.

Pay no attention to the fun police. Wink

BrumBoo · 11/05/2021 10:21

It's a picture drawn on a piece of paper. It means absolutely nothing. Please don't cause yourself mental distress over a mass produced piece of paper, and for the love of god don't seek out some simple minded charlatan's opinion on the matter.

BashfulClam · 11/05/2021 10:23

My o death is new beginnings a choice, the hanged man is stagnation and the star is life becoming really good…take from that whatever you want.

sal1223 · 11/05/2021 10:31

No wasn't looking at it as past present future just 3 random cards x

I'm at a crossroads torn between whether to divorce or not - to give it some context

Mumoblue · 11/05/2021 10:35

Tarot is a bit like a magic eye picture. It’s more important what you think it’s about. More often than not it’s a way for your brain to tell you things you already know or already feel.
That’s how I use it, anyway. Obviously divorce is a huge decision- wishing you the best of luck with whatever you decide. Flowers

I like that! I'm not remotely woo, and don't believe printed cards have power, meaning or the ability to predict the future, but if you can use tarot as a tool to help you think about things, consider possibilities, and clarify your own feelings then thats worth doing.

It's a bit like talking things through with someone: even if they don't give explicit advice, it still helps to talk as it solidifies your own thoughts and feelings and can make an issue seem smaller and less daunting.

OP, I hope you find the clarity that you need.

Excellent way of putting it

Pay thee great heed in December. For as the great darkness of the solstice falls upon our people thou shalt seek to make gay by bedecking thee a tree of winter, adorning it stop with a star from the heavens and thou shalt have a very nasty accident, with thy tree lights getting entangled round thy star and thy scrawny neck and thy darling husband will be be dialling 999.

Also look out for tall dark strangers. xx

It means you will murder a celebrity soon. Please be more careful when you drive.

Absolutely this.

AmadeustheAlpaca · 11/05/2021 12:42

Hi Op, I do a bit of tarot reading, not professionally but for family members and close friends mainly. I do it for fun, never ever charge for it and it can be a good focus for discussion with someone who’s worried about a situation. I agree with the person who mentioned that it’s a good meditative tool. Of course on Mumsnet you always get the smartarses who think it’s hilarious to poke fun at any mention of the supernatural or forms of belief. Just because you’re interested in something such as Tarot doesn’t mean you are stupid or gullible.
Anyway, my take on these three cards would be that Death shows huge changes in your life, possibly mentally rather than physically and the feeling that a phase of your life has ended. At the moment you feel you are in limbo “hanging around” and faced with uncertainty. The Hanged Man suggests not doing anything dramatic and even if you have to make a decision the way ahead will become clear to you. You will also feel a sense of loss or having sacrificed something in your life. I see the Star as a guiding star and your future will become brighter and clearer and what you need to do will become obvious.
Please don’t use Tarot to organise your life but it can be a way of setting off trains of thought to help you arrive at a decision.

Panpastels · 11/05/2021 12:49

Pay no attention to the fun police.

What's fun about someone agonising over the 'meaning' of some cards with pictures on?

AmadeustheAlpaca · 11/05/2021 13:03

@Panpastels some people enjoy it so don’t knock it. I can’t stand X Factor but don’t judge people who enjoy it and I wouldn’t be anonymously nasty about them on an online forum

Panpastels · 11/05/2021 13:06

My point was I don't see any enjoyment here. People don't watch the X factor to resolve their problems (other than boredom maybe)

GrolliffetheDragon · 11/05/2021 13:10

I'd maybe consider the Hanged Man as suggesting looking at things from a different point of view, a change of perspective. Reading it left to right, you can make a story - the change of death leading to the new perspective and a hopeful outcome.

Lockheart · 11/05/2021 13:11

Send me £20 and I'll tell you.

UhtredRagnarson · 11/05/2021 13:13

Yes YABU

Mumoblue · 11/05/2021 13:23

@Panpastels

I’m able to think without agonising, and I’m sure that OP is too. I started reading tarot in order to manage my own anxiety. It helps to organise and externalise my thoughts. Doesn’t mean I think it’s magic or that I agonise over it.
I think people could do with looking down their nose a little less, generally speaking.

PlanDeRaccordement · 11/05/2021 13:26

Were any of the cards reversed? It matters which way up they were when you drew them.

AmadeustheAlpaca · 11/05/2021 13:31

@GrolliffetheDragon Some good points there, I’d agree with you. Tarot is a narrative reflecting what’s on your mind and as I mentioned before it’s a great basis for discussion to help clarify your thoughts.
