Sainsbury's online delivery.....

It's it just us or is it now completely rubbish?
Loads of items missing, numerous short dated items which they refuse to refund and if you are lucky enough to get anything refunded it's now a voucher.

When you try to complain they tell you it will be reviewed internally but that they don't ever share the outcome of complaints as that's not their policy.

I love our local driver but I'm fed up of having to do a second shop every week because so much is missing or out of date.

Can you tell I've had a shop delivered this morning?!

That doesn't sound good. Ours are really good at the moment but there's lots of slots available so less demand maybe?

Can only speak for myself but we've had none of the problems you've mentioned except the occasional substitution which is to be expected. My parents use Tesco and have a few more issues but nothing major

mogloveseggs · 29/04/2021 08:21

Also could it be the time you're having it delivered? Maybe their stock has changed delivery times?

PickAChew · 29/04/2021 08:22

They've always been bad for fresh stuff.

PurBal · 29/04/2021 08:22

We had one delivered this morning. A few substitutions but most were better. I think it depends on your local area and who is picking. We ordered 2 lemons a few weeks ago and one was tiny and the other huge: I can envisage a teenager finding this hilarious.

CopperLily · 29/04/2021 08:23

Yes, they're terrible. In every order they would send my mum meat with a 1 day shelf life. She got fed up of complaining about it but they didn't see the issue. Another friend recently had a delivery just not arrive and had to chase it herself before they told her later that night it wouldn't be arriving at all and they'd deliver tomorrow instead. Which meant she had to go out and buy everything she needed for the packed lunches the following day.
I've used Ocado for years and they're great.

Happycat1212 · 29/04/2021 08:23

The voucher thing is really cheeky, I usually shop with Tesco’s though but I do have a Sainsbury’s shop due tomorrow purely for something I couldn’t get in Tesco’s so hope it’s available 😕

Happytentoes · 29/04/2021 08:26

I did a Sainsbury’s click & collect for a change from Tesco, and it was pretty bad.
As you say missing items, short dates, and for some reason they did not send out their usual ‘ this is what’s out of stock ‘ email.
My elderly MIL uses them and honestly she’s had 4 pints of milk with next days date, bread with next day date etc.
Had some quality issues with Tesco products but their actual service is streets ahead.

FizzyApricot · 29/04/2021 08:28

If you have a problem with Tesco you can just tweet them and they refund the item. Sainsburys I ended up with a voucher for the cost but there was no way I was using their service again so it was a bit useless.

DelBocaVista · 29/04/2021 08:31

I've phoned to complain and complained via messenger- they've told me their policy is to review internally but I'll never find out the outcome as the don't share this with customers.

It doesn't matter what time of day the delivery is as it's always the same. Today there are 7 items which go out of date tomorrow and a couple of damaged items. They're issuing an online voucher for the damaged stuff but are refusing to refund the short dated items as they were highlighted on my receipt - unfortunately they only issue online receipts and I didn't get chance to check my email before the delivery arrived ( young children and getting ready for work). The driver doesn't even know if you have short dated or substitutions- they're relying on everyone checking their emails.

Basically all the bread products and most of the veg will be out of date tomorrow

We haven't had so many missing items, but short dated stuff is a real problem. You do a weekly shop, but then find half your shop needs to be eaten within 2 days. It's frustrating.

Woeismethischristmas · 29/04/2021 08:31

It is cheeky to be fobbing delivery customers off with stuff they can’t sell in store. Supermarkets have gotten used to people putting up with a lot during the pandemic. I’d start getting deliveries elsewhere.

EssentialHummus · 29/04/2021 08:32

The voucher thing - you can tick items that you don’t want them to substitute, or you can hand the items back on the door.

I’ve had the short-dated issue once but use them almost weekly and find them excellent.

I plan to ..... I'm totally fed up with them.

I'll miss my lovely driver though

Do they? I've just checked my last receipt and it doesn't mention that at all.

bluebell34567 · 29/04/2021 08:34

i left them long time ago.
the last thing happened was; they start you with 1 pound delivery, then raise it slowly everytime by allowing more expensive delivery times.
also, the items; they dont increase price but sneakily they decrease their weight little by little.
i dont think they want to be the best, their interest seems changed with merge with argos, etc.

DelBocaVista · 29/04/2021 08:35

I do tick the no substitutions so that's not really an issue but the short dated stuff is.

My delivery came at 7am today. No time to check emails and stuff gets dumped in the hall way. It's hard to check all the dates when you're doing this quickly.

Usually they will issue a voucher but today I've been told it's now my responsibility to check my emails before the delivery arrives. They're refusing to refund the items today

That's what I've been told by two people today.

Have had Sainsbury’s delivery on an off for about 20 years in 2 locations. Rarely had any problems apart from at the beginning of 1st lockdown.

MedusasBadHairDay · 29/04/2021 08:38

I know I had short dated items in my last shop, delivered on the 23rd and dated the 24th, but definitely not highlighted on the receipt. Were they highlighted on yours?

DelBocaVista · 29/04/2021 08:39

They used to be great but the last few months has been terrible for us. Today was the last straw!

OP posts:
AdventureIsWaiting · 29/04/2021 08:40

It's not you. We had this last year, after being a Sainsbury's customer for c15 years I've switched to someone else. It wasn't just the quality of the products / volume of subs but also the impossibility of getting through to customer services and the way they kept changing policies re subs / refunds etc. I found it really difficult as I have a disability (autism) that makes in store shopping virtually impossible with a face mask / new store rules etc.

I might go back to in store shopping post pandemic, but I'll never order online again. It does seem just to be Sainsbury's- the other supermarkets don't seem to have such frequent issues.

ancientgran · 29/04/2021 08:43

I've been having deliveries for over a year, was so relieved to get a slot as DH is very vulnerable. I've had very few problems, the occasional substitution e.g. this week they changed the beef I'd ordered for a casserole but it is fine. I had one week where I had 2 loaves of bread with the use by date the next day and I phoned and said it was highly unlikely that two pensioners would manage to eat 2 loaves of bread in 24 hours. They refunded me and apologised.

The delivery drivers are all great.

FizzyApricot · 29/04/2021 08:43

That is bad, the Tesco drivers always point out the short dated items and subs even though they are on the receipt.
