Sainsbury's online delivery.....

It's it just us or is it now completely rubbish?
Loads of items missing, numerous short dated items which they refuse to refund and if you are lucky enough to get anything refunded it's now a voucher.

When you try to complain they tell you it will be reviewed internally but that they don't ever share the outcome of complaints as that's not their policy.

I love our local driver but I'm fed up of having to do a second shop every week because so much is missing or out of date.

Can you tell I've had a shop delivered this morning?!

I'm a Sainsburys shopper. We do get training in picking & packing & we also get told every day about customer complaints about packing & short dated items. However, all the shopping for that day gets picked 1st thing in the morning & we can only pick what there is on the shelves. So today, for example, all the blueberries were dated 29th. We have to flag it up & then it's up to the customer to accept/reject if they're not happy. Also we are against the clock with a target time to meet for each shop.

Soubriquet · 29/04/2021 14:14

What PP said

We do get training BUT it isn’t as it was

I started 18 months ago and 2 weeks worth of training.

People who have been employed since the first lockdown are lucky to get two shifts Sad

We are pulled up on customer complaints but it isn’t improving with some people

lubeybooby · 29/04/2021 14:17

we have had a lot of subs and unavailable recently, but usually the subs are acceptable

I keep hoping for it to improve and initially blamed lockdown but they've had so much time to sort out any supply issues now. Getting a bit annoying. It's not bad enough to send me back to Waitrose yet but definitely noticeable.

DelBocaVista · 29/04/2021 14:24

I really feel for you and my issue was with policies rather than staff! It's really poor that you have such limited produce to pick from.

I also don't think it should be entirely down to to the customer to reject items. I simply hadn't had the time to check my emails before my delivery arrived this morning as the email had arrived less than 5 mins before my delivery!! If my driver has highlighted it then I would have sent things back.

I also think a clearer, more transparent complaints procedure is needed. It's not good enough to just say we'll carry out an internal review but not share the outcome- I couldn't get away with that where I work.

Soubriquet · 29/04/2021 14:26

Please do go on lettuce know and highlight all your issues

The more it’s made aware of, the more things will change

DelBocaVista · 29/04/2021 14:35

I will do - thank you

Now I just check them myself at the front door. They don't mind waiting and having a chat while I do it,

You're lucky. Last time I had a sainsbury's delivery he told me to hurry up !! I had seen the van arrive, so had the door open before he even got there, so it wasn't as if I was slow!

Easier said than done with small children trying to 'help'!

@starfishmummy That's terrible, I'm sorry you experienced that. All the Sainsbury's delivery drivers here are great. Perhaps they have more patience with me because I'm old and use a walking stick.

starfishmummy · 29/04/2021 19:38

@ThemilkybarsRonme i'm not exactly young myself!! It was only this one guy but thats why it was such a shock!

JeanClaudeVanDammit · 29/04/2021 19:41

Mine were always fine but I stopped being able to get slots at short notice so switched to Asda.

LyndaLaHughes · 29/04/2021 19:54

Having used all the supermarkets for online delivery - Morrison's is the best hands down. Very rarely a substitution, never late, no short dates. I've been consistently impressed with them now for a number of years since I switched. The customer service is excellent too and it's very easy to get refunds etc.

LyndaLaHughes · 29/04/2021 19:55

I have also still been able to get a slot every single week with them since the start of the pandemic.

I'm really pleased to hear this. I've just found out that Morrisons now deliver in our area so I've booked a delivery for next week.

I think it must depend on your local store. Ours has been a bit iffy on and off with stock over the last year (which I could understand) but things seem pretty much back to normal now.

And the drivers are all absolutely lovely.

QueenAdreena · 29/04/2021 20:06

Our Sainsbury’s deliveries have been really good. Tesco’s on the other hand have been awful.

There’s still no fecking marmite to be seen in either stores though.

Bert2020 · 29/04/2021 20:07

I’ve had to stop using Sainsbury’s and despite complaining to head office who gave the very real impression that they don’t care am now trialling Ocado. I got the hump with squashed food and short dates, it’s such a waste it truly is.

SavannahLands · 29/04/2021 20:29

I am getting tired of their quality and service too, not to mention having to stand outside and pack my items into shopping bags as no other more convenient bagging or crate system.is available. We used to buy their fresh smoked Salmon pate for a great but recently they changed the recipe\supplier and it's no better than inferior fish paste!
I'm getting very tired too of the short shelf life dates on things, I had to throw away a full large pack of chicken breast fillets that drunk the kitchen out as l opened them the day after they were delivered. DH loves fresh flashcard from the chilled cabinets, but this week's offering had the strong smell of cheap Coley fish when they were cooking, not the fresh Cod that they were supposed to be.
We tried Occado last week and were very impressed, fresh food with a good shelf life date, and conveniently packed into recyclable carrier bags, making delivery handling much easier to deal with. We may switch to them fulltime the future, although Iceland store has kept us going well throughout Lockdown, good delivery service and reasonable prices on the basic everyday items, with fresh fruit and veg delivered by our local farmshop.

SavannahLands · 29/04/2021 20:31

Whoops typo, Stank not Drunk lol!

I would absolutely agree.

This the impression I got. I found it concerning that they no longer have a customer service email address and refuse to give you a named person in order to make a complaint and won't ever tell you the outcomes of any complaints! My issue is relatively minor but what if it wasn't? Where do you go?

Stoptalkingtome · 29/04/2021 20:32

I used Sainsbury's this week for the first time in a while and everything was there. Quite a big shop too.

Rememberallball · 29/04/2021 21:34

I do Sainsbury’s one fortnight and Asda a fortnight later. Asda are great for refunds if items are damaged or short dated (though they’ve reduced how long they class as short dated) and it’s cash onto your payment method. Sainsbury’s are getting worse all the time - had a bottle of gin with security cap still attached one week and, despite sending photos and details to them on their messenger chat facility (the only way you can actually speak to them it seems) they just said it would be fed back to the relevant branch. Thankfully we were able to get someone else to take the bottle to their work and get it removed!!

Aldi always seem to have plenty of Marmite. Certainly the last few times I've been to my local one.
