I hope you grabbed them out of his hand, threw them in the bin and told him to start again with a fresh packet. Oh and gave him a slap across the head for good measure.

Salt and shake ALWAYS need opened upside down, that's where the salt sachet hides. Otherwise I honestly couldn't care what side up.
