Stop bloody feeding my cat!!!!

WHY do people feed cats that are not their own? My cat has an extremely sensitive stomach. Someone put a pic of my cat on sm as they think he is a stray and have been feeding him as he is always begging for food!! FFS. He is extremely handsome ( well I would say that!) So in no way looks neglected. I've responded saying the cat is mine and please stop feeding him. ( This was Sunday). He came home late last night and I woke up this morning to cat vomit. Arghhh

No wonder he's not interested in his own food!

Get one of those collars that says please do not feed me. My own cat is allergic to some kinds of foods and it drives me mad when people feed him crap and he end up with a swollen lip. He is a chunky guy and in no way looks neglected. People just cant mind their own business some times when it comes to cats.

We've had this, including the cat vomit after my ones been fed by someone else.😠
I ended up telling the person when I found out who it was that my cat was diabetic and on specialist food!
It did stop her from doing it.

I've put those on my last 3 cats. All have removed them. It's almost like they know what they say 😂

There's a children's book called "Six-Dinner Sid" which says it all.......all I can do is sympathise, as my boy, far from having a sensitive stomach, is on a specialist diet to reduce his weight, and I'm fairly certain that he regards his home rations as basics needing to be supplemented. And despite his impressive bulk, he still puts on a highly convincing "orphans of the storm" act.
The only thing I can suggest; I heard of somebody putting a tag on their cat's collar with a note attached about not feeding them. But if the feeder has seen your sm message and persists, I'd be stumped.

Could you keep him in for a few days? Get him used to eating at home again?

Someone did this with one of mine, even though he's on a diet as he's overweight. I kept him in for a week and they stopped feeding him thankfully.

Cat owners can’t pull the “he’s a free spirit, I can’t contain” line when it comes to crapping in people’s veg patches and causing miscarriages, and then be all shocked about their cat eating some food.

No, it would only be the same if the owner was taking their cat to shit in someone's garden. Is a deliberate choice. Actively feeding a cat that isn't yours, as is happening here, is not the same as a cat stealing food from another house.

Are you a pet owner? A cat or dog begging for more food absolutely does not indicate they are not being well fed at home, I'm staggered anyone would jump to that conclusion.

My 2 have often been known to put on a great show of being starved and neglected for my DH mere minutes after finishing their breakfast.

My cats don't. They actually come in to use the litter tray and then go back out again.

Obviously I don't follow them round whilst they're out but the quantities and my observations would imply this is the case.

Surely if he’s that sensitive, he shouldn’t be let out at all? I appreciate that in this case, you have evidence of someone else actively feeding your cat, but surely if a cat is wandering around the neighbourhood, you have absolutely no idea what he’s eating off the pavement, from bins etc.

For what it’s worth, I can’t understand why anyone would feed someone else’s cat. We spend most of the summer armed with water pistols trying to shoo the local feral moggies out of our garden. The rest of the time is spent clearing up the shit they leave behind. Why someone would encourage a cat to visit them is beyond me..!

I hear you OP. Our cat has come home a few times and vomited, most recently the vomit looked a bit like salmon and peas 🤢. I tried posting on our neighbourhood app but so many people felt it was unfair to deprive neighbours being able to give cats some treats . Our cat can easily remove a collar and is impossible to keep indoors - we moved to the suburbs from the countryside and he will howl at the door when we try to keep him in. He has a litter tray and uses it, so I hope that keeps the nuisance factor to others as low as possible.
