WHY do people feed cats that are not their own? My cat has an extremely sensitive stomach. Someone put a pic of my cat on sm as they think he is a stray and have been feeding him as he is always begging for food!! FFS. He is extremely handsome ( well I would say that!) So in no way looks neglected. I've responded saying the cat is mine and please stop feeding him. ( This was Sunday). He came home late last night and I woke up this morning to cat vomit. Arghhh

not saying the world needs to change - I am saying that pet owners need to be responsible. Would it be your fault if nuts weren't listed on an allergen menu? No, it wouldn't would it.

But cat owners aren't be irresponsible by letting their cats roam. Of course it wouldn't be my fault if an allergen wasn't listed and I had a reaction but not listing an allergen is against the law, letting a cat roam isn't.

It's frustrating that your allergy is to cats but their owners are not doing anything wrong by letting them out so the onus is on you to minimise expose to your allergen just like people do with pollen allergies, latex allergies, dust mite allergies and so on.

So basically, I shouldn't go in my own garden or use my own garden furniture? Get real.

@GreenFingersWouldBeHandy

If he's begging food from other people, he isn't getting enough nourishment from you. Suggest you talk to your vet about his diet and stop blaming people who are kind enough to feed what they they think is a hungry, neglected cat.
Have you met a cat?

Hahaha GreenFingersWouldBeHandy do you actually know any cats?!

Op it's really frustrating. I personally think that a lot of people feed other owners' cats because they want all the nice bits of having a pet and none of the responsibility.

Well the alternative is to cat proof your garden which I would have thought would be a more sensible approach than expecting everyone to keep their cats inside.

So everyone should keep their cat in incase they enter your garden? Why can't you make your garden cat proof?
SeaTurtles92 · 21/04/2021 17:06

You do realise he could be hunting right and maybe someone isn't actually feeding him?

For the same reason that people let cats shit in gardens that are not their own.

😂😂. I don't even have a cat but my neighbours cat always shits in my front garden. I don't think she has a tag on him. He doesn't seem to have a curfew. How dare she!

ZeusandClio · 21/04/2021 17:14

100% agree. I have a labrador! 🤣🤣

LexMitior · 21/04/2021 17:18

People are bloody daft about cats; only feed your own cat unless you want lots more cats. When a cat is thin and hungry, but most cats are overweight but do good goo goo eyes at women!

It was very noticeable during lockdown with people posting things like “there’s a cat in my garden” as if it were a surprise. You wonder if they know anything about cats - clearly not.

ZeusandClio · 21/04/2021 17:20

@Stoppissingonmyheather perhaps read the NHS link posted above.

HunkyPunk · 22/04/2021 20:51

Cat-proof your garden and deal with the little fuckers yourselves, then the pwecious lickle snoeflakes can have all the speshul food you want.

Grin Grin I'm guessing you're not fond of cats?

LexMitior · 22/04/2021 20:54

I want everyone to know that my cat actually shat in my garden, in front of me, today.

I don't know how regular this is, but to confirm it can happen.
