AIBU -first time using Bing, typed in "how to" - WARNING their predictive fill-in came up with suggestion about child murder [[Edited by MNHQ to add: MYSTERY SOLVED, MINECRAFT THING]]

This was the very first time I used the Bing search entry. I typed in "how to" meaning to say "how to find info on the ESA" and predictive text came up with this.

For a first time use of Bing this is awful. I'm just very glad my young kids weren't around to see this.

I have actually reported it to microsoft and their suggestion was to put "safe search" mode on. It should have been on automatically imo.

Basically this is a warning to people to be careful if they use Bing to put the Safe Search on first! (I'm not going to be changing my search engine after all)

That's awful. I got "how to keep cheese fresh". It is my work laptop though so presumably anything dodgy is filtered out.

I've just tried and got a load of stuff about Minecraft and Roblox. I know DS uses my tablet, so that makes sense.

I got how to draw and then how to get free robux which isn't surprising as my kids use it.

I got the same as you and I have never heard of robux. I also got the pancake one.

No child murders here, but seeing as I'm getting suggestions of things I've never heard of, I don't think OPs husband has been googling how to kill kids either..

This. It isn’t Bing you should be worried about.

If I put 'how to' into google I get:

How to find a facebook user ID (something i looked up last week)
How to register to pay vat in the uk if you are in teh US..

Several others with clockfaces beside them same as above that are clearly stuff ive looked for.

Below that comes suggestions which all feature things ive recently seen ads for (how to lose weight fast for example).

If I go on Bing I get the suggestions others have in this thread, pancakes, robux etc.

I don't get 'how to kill a child' or at all, not even putting 'how to kill' in brings THAT up so its clearly to do with your previous use of search engines on that device and nothing to do with Bing.

Um. Yeah I'd be very concerned about the other people in your household who use that laptop tbh, rather than warning about Bing. Eek!

Given the Minecraft search (bottom, about villagers - which can be adult or child), I'd say the top search is actually something one of your kids has searched for, hopefully in relation to Minecraft...

Okay, well mine aren't. My husband never touches my phone and my 2 year old isn't smart enough to use my phone yet.

I haven't searched for anything related to my suggestions or seen adverts for them, so how about we don't try to cause a massive domestic between OP and whoever else has access to her computer just yet?

-make pancakes. I don't use bing so I assume that is what you get if they have no previous search history to go on.
