Ordered myself some new knickers from M&S. I accidentally ordered the wrong style - full brief..... they’re huge. They cover my bum and come right up to my waist. Proper granny knickers. Omg I love them. They are so comfy. I am only 41.... aibu to convert to giant pants at this age???

I bought big pants a decade ago when I was pregnant with DS2 - I've never gone back!

TheChosenTwo · 12/04/2021 19:45

Went into hospital to have dc3 and took big M&S pants rather than the disposables people tell you to get and never looked back Grin
I was 26 in big pants and at 35 I’m still wearing them! Different pairs now obviously, I haven’t been wearing the same ones for all this time...
I have prettier stuff in my drawers for if I’m feeling fancy but it rarely gets worn, it’s just not as comfortable and I hate getting chilly arse cheeks!

ShutUpAlex · 12/04/2021 19:47

I’m 27 and I only wear granny pants Grin

PinkArt · 12/04/2021 20:00

@Firstaidnovice So with you on the 50s vibe. I started wearing them in my 20s under dresses in the summer to avoid accidental flashing. And realised they're awesome.
They're much more Bettie Page then nanna Betty to me!

PurpleSproutingSomething · 12/04/2021 20:02

@ApocalypseNowt

Started wearing massive pants after birth of DC1 (csection). There's no going back.

DC1 is 9yo.

Same. Mine is 12 Grin
Helenluvsrob · 12/04/2021 20:21

Confession time .... after abdo surgery earlier this year I started wearing big knickers......... with a proper vest tucked in as well 😂😂.

Now that is the ultimate comfort - keep the elastic of pants / tights / leggings off your skin all together !

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/04/2021 21:38

Ha, nope.
So far I'm sticking with Hollister/Victoria's secret/Superdry bikini pants.

ConnieCaterpillar70 · 12/04/2021 21:47

DH mentioned my granny pants once. He was told firmly that a) I am a granny even if a young one, and b) if he starts wearing some budgie smugglers instead of his Sloggi briefs for men then I'll happily ditch the full pants and wear something more enticing.

needadvice54321 · 12/04/2021 22:07

I bloody love them. I work with children so spend my life up and down on the floor and no one wants to see my bike rack or a flimsy pair of knickers GrinGrin

There just so blooming comfy!

Thanks to this thread I treated myself today to a new pack of full briefs!

SmokedDuck · 16/04/2021 19:57

I read recently that thongs and even bikini styles are on the downswing generally, as gen y and z don't like them.

The most sensible thing about those generations IMO.

IHaveBrilloHair · 16/04/2021 20:04

Why is taking away choice sensible?

SoddingWeddings · 16/04/2021 20:10

Another M&S Flexifit full briefcase wearer here. In fact, I'm binning my elderly Sloggi (full of holes) and switching completely to them.

BagLadyy · 16/04/2021 20:17

Oooh @SoddingWeddings will treat myself next time I'm in M&S.

Got mine today in Sainsbury's. They had a few options in prints so it's very much making me think they're having a come back!

Whatalottachocca · 16/04/2021 20:40

They’re wonderfully comfortable and even my youngest DD who’s 19, wears them a lot of the time too.

MrsMackesy · 17/04/2021 08:28

Alongside this marvellous Campaign For Real Knickers, I think we should run a Campaign For Real Bikini Bottoms - for personal comfort, practicality and I really don't want to see all of someone else's backside at the beach or pool, thank you very much. Put those cheeks and bikini/swimsuit thongs away.

LolaNova · 17/04/2021 08:29

I’m 29... been wearing big pants since I was pregnant with my first, three years ago. I’m never going back!

LolaNova · 17/04/2021 08:31

I don’t mind a bit of bum cheek... my issue is bikini line! Bikinis seem to be made exclusively for women who are waxed to within an inch of their lives and don’t mind having half their labia hanging out. Is it too much to ask for a slightly wider gusset?!
Pyewackect · 17/04/2021 08:35

“Arsehole scratcher “ , love it. 🤣 x

MrsMackesy · 17/04/2021 08:45

Yes, that too, LolaNova.

Tinkling · 17/04/2021 08:57

I’ve been wearing big pants since my early 20’s. I remember getting some in Debenhams and the check out lady commenting. I said the older I get, the bigger my knickers Grin

FedNlanders · 17/04/2021 09:01

@Isaidnope

I’ve been wearing them for years and I’m in my twenties. They’re used to be period pants but then realised how comfortable they were during pregnancy and sort of kept wearing them Grin.
Same. I'm and I don't think I own any sexy undies anymore 😅 I dont really care either. Comfort over anything.
FedNlanders · 17/04/2021 09:05

@FrankButchersDickieBow

I wear granny knickers AND I have a hairy fanny and dh doesn't care. He still fancies me.

I find the concept of wearing 'sexy' underwear to tittilate 'your man', a bit odd. Reminds me of Benny Hill getting all hot under the collar and saying 'phwoar'

Thats just me though. And I know a lot of women feel sexy in it, but I would feel a bit daft.

I laughed at this. Im the same, I realised that my OH does not care and that it was effort for no reason. so liberating lol.
MrsMackesy · 20/04/2021 09:08

We walked past a cottage last week and four pairs of big knickers were flapping about in the wind, drying on the washing line. I found myself thinking, 'hmm, I wonder if she's a MNetter?!'
