Inspired by the other FND thread, I now want to re-watch this tonight. What's the best series?

The best episode has to be the dead fox one.

@Felty

The scene where Jackie discovers that Martin has been bitten on the penis by a bee.
Me and DH started to re-watch them last night, this one had me in tears. Martins face is priceless in it. I also love the one where Jim comes to dinner and has cut his shirt to be his yarmulke.
gingganggooleywotsit · 10/04/2021 12:45

Love it so much! My dd14 drew a Father’s Day card for her dad with Jim on the front saying ‘shalom’ 😂

StillCoughingandLaughing · 10/04/2021 12:46

I love it when Martin invites ‘the wrong Tony’ to dinner... and the only other friend he can think of is ‘dead Neil’ Grin

I also love Jackie asking Martin ‘When will your mother die?’ and him replying ‘In about an hour, hopefully!’

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 10/04/2021 12:48

Just start at the beginning an d watch them all again. My ds (7) loves it too so we watch it together.
Think his fave was the one with 'buggy'

you let a 7 year old watch fnd??? Shock

peak2021 · 10/04/2021 12:52

I hope it is not disrespectful that I have been trying to imagine if art imitated life and there was a final FND where the dad had died, and how the funeral and wake would have every possible thing go wrong.

magicstar1 · 10/04/2021 12:56

I’d never seen it, and with all the talk this week I gave it a go. Season 1 on Thursday night, and I’ve binged up to season 5 today. It’s the first programme I’ve actually cracked up laughing at in ages.

Cocolapew · 10/04/2021 13:01

In the first 2 episodes Jim isn't as 'Jim' as he is in the later ones IYSWIM?

He loves all the funny story lines, jokes, fights between the brothers.

I didnt think it was bad other than the occasional light swear word (which he hears in real life anyway).Any of the few times they have referred to sex just goes over his head - he doesnt get what theyre talking about, but doesnt ask either.

I feel terrible now Blush

Cocolapew · 10/04/2021 13:09

I don't think there's anything too bad for a 7 year old? It's slapstick really.

RiojaRose · 10/04/2021 13:10

We love FND. ‘Shit on it’ has become a regular saying in our house too. So sad about Paul Ritter.

JustanotherTuesday · 10/04/2021 13:13

It's really hard to pick a favourite episode but I really liked the one where Martin ruined the bedroom carpet and he got a man round to clean it.

Youmeanyouvelostyourkey · 10/04/2021 13:14

We hadn't even heard of the programme until this week. We started watching it and it is hilarious. Don't know how we missed it.

HandyBendySandy · 10/04/2021 13:16

We often use Martin's insults for his kids in this house.

Simpletons!
Gibbons!
Morons!

Not to mention "Give me my meat! WHERE'S MY MEAT!"

sunflowersandbuttercups · 10/04/2021 13:18

Why not? Apart from the word "shit" there's nothing overly inappropriate in there, it's mostly practical jokes - yes, a bit crass but not inappropriate as such.

I watched shows like Fawlty Towers at the same age - any reference to sex went right over my head.

HandyBendySandy · 10/04/2021 13:18

My favourite episode is the piano tuner.

"You do realise that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit."

"Oh, is it REALLY?"

CalicoKate · 10/04/2021 13:18

I like The Return of Mr Morris and the Two Tonys

CalicoKate · 10/04/2021 13:19

And the nice grandma wedding one

stressbandit · 10/04/2021 13:21

The one where the boys are hiding in big bin bags has me in tears Grin

LaganinaBubble · 10/04/2021 13:29

I've been rewatching this week in memory of Paul Ritter, the one with Jackie planning her own surprise party and Martin messing up the invitations had me in stitches last night.
That and the one with The Big Carrot 🤣🥕

MissDollyMix · 10/04/2021 13:34

My 7yo watches it too. Kids have a brilliant way of filtering out what they don’t understand. They just watch it for the slap stick and the family relations. I let her watch Blackadder and the IT Crowd too. Blush

Mintyflesh · 10/04/2021 13:35

Hello bambinos!
I love every episode. It's just superb.
I thought I'd heard they had filmed a one off special?

timeforanewnameagain · 10/04/2021 13:35

The dead fox episode is very very funny but my favourite one is the one where Martin (the amazing late Paul Ritter, RIP you comedy genius) has his old tin of meat that he insists on eating. Howling with laughter at that one!

MissDollyMix · 10/04/2021 13:37

Love the tin of meat episode Grin

I was watching the episode where Adam was on the phone to a young lady and Johnny kept following him and locked them both in the toilet whilst poor Adam was trying to talk to her and made it sound like Adam was talking to her whilst having a wee. Puerile but so funny.

My cat is named after Wilson 😁
