AIBU?

To be really furious about this?

I had my frozen embryo transfer for the final part of this IVF round today. I've been isolating to keep safe and make sure my body is in the best position possible to support a pregnancy.
Anyway, for tea my husband went to cook the chicken sausages he bought from Morrisons yesterday (7th April) and noticed that they went out of date on the 3rd of April! Close escape right? Wrong, because I'd already eaten some for lunch yesterday 😢when they were 4 days out of date!
I'm so fuming and worried that I'm going to get food poisoning and risk the success of the pregnancy. So I suppose I'm asking AIBU to be really angry. And if I was going to get food poisoning would I have started to feel ill already? I'm so so worried! Please advise.

I think you would have started feeling ill by now if you did have food poisoning - so try not to worry Flowers

Having had ivf twice I understand your worry. You are fine though. 1. You would have poisoning symptoms by now as other people have said and 2. If you did get food poisoning it wouldn’t affect the pregnancy.

I wouldn't worry too much. I accidentally fed my son and husband ones that were a week out of date and they lived to tell the tale. I had a long week worrying what I might have done to them!

You're being very silly and slightly hysterical. You are perfectly fine.

I understand you feel anxious, but given you feel just fine, you’re wasting your much needed energy by ‘fuming’.

If you were going to get ill, you’d know by now. These things do not waste time. 12 hours and you’re up-chucking IF it’s going to happen.

I've been through IVF, you need to chill out and relax. You're more at risk getting yourself all worked up than you are of getting food poisoning. You're fine, have a cup of tea and a bath and good luck.

Completely understand your anxiety and anger. Try and stay calm. I think you would have been ill by now.

I understand why you feel this way but I also think you'll most likely be fine. Good luck Flowers

Think you'd have noticed the effects by now. Off meat can be pretty grim! I had the mother of all food poisoning while in early pregnancy - awful stuff! And he's absolutely fine, snoozing as I type.

You are totally overreacting and need to chill! You'll be fine x

Hope all goes well with you.

Who are you fuming at? Your husband for buying them out of date? Or yourself for eating them at lunch without noticing the date?

Getting yourself so worked up is probably going to do more harm than a potentially dodgy sausage.

You'd know if they were off, they would have had a whiff about them.
You will be fine.

Good luck with your embryos sticking Flowers

I'm sure you'll be fine! 3/4 days past their date is nothing.

Thanks from a fellow IVF warrior.

Nothing that you eat/ don't eat, do/ don't do will affect your little embryo. They are safe and comfy-cosy up there. Any medical professional would tell you this.

I had a nervous breakdown following my embryo transfer and ended up medicated. I didn't eat or sleep for so long. That little embryo is lying asleep next to me now.

My fingers are crossed for you.

You'd have noticed if they were bad
The use by date is always a cautious date rather than an exact science
You would have l known by now if you had food poisoning
Food poisoning likely wouldn't affect your IVF chances anyway

I've also had IVF and I'm due to have a FET soon so I know how it can be. Wishing you the best of luck! 🤞

If they were unsafe they would smell/be noticeably slimy! They always have an extra couple of days anyway as a buffer. If you cooked them fully all bacteria will have been killed.

Good luck with the baby magic!

Wow - some people really don’t understand how hard it is to go through IVF. I completely understand why you feel the way you do OP. You invest so much in a round of IVF, and it really takes its toll emotionally. It’s no wonder that you feel anxious about something like this. As previously stated I think you would have felt poorly by now if you were going to be - but your feelings are perfectly valid and understandable. I really hope this all goes wee for you and that you get the happiest possible outcome :) xx

Wow thanks for your kind words at a very stressful, hormone fuelled IVF time 🤨 I hope you never have to go through IVF and ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome

I have myself food poisoning one lunchtime. Had some cramping by tea time & it was clear before breakfast I was quite unwell so I reckon you’re ok.
Good luck with everything -x-

Thanks ☺️I think the hormones are playing with my rationality! The sacrifices we make going through IVF can me scared at the very first sign of trouble!

They not to worry. You would have been ill before now. If they smelled and tasted fine I'm sure you will be ok.
