Is this weird or am I a slattern

I think it totally fine to wash tee towels in with clothes washing .
My partner thinks they should be washed separately on a hot wash.
He thinks it just not right to have tee towels and underwear washed together as its unhygienic.
My clothes washing is on a 40 degrees wash.
Tell me Im not mad .
Happy Easter everyone.

Sounds normal to me. But I wash everything in with everything at 40' (face.cloths and floor cloths for instance) so maybe I'm a slattern.

Unanananana · 04/04/2021 08:59

Life is too short. If he wants them done that way, then he can do it.

I chuck everything in together. Its all going to get clean.

allgoodinthehood · 04/04/2021 08:59

Well obviously we are both atrocious slatterns 😂

Surely the whole point is that everything comes out clean, so I can't see why it would matter? If you were storing tea towels in with dirty underwear, then using them, then I could see the issue.

Thedogscollar · 04/04/2021 09:00

No probs I do exactly same OP

GraduallyWatermelon · 04/04/2021 09:00

I wish everything at 40° as well! If someone complained I would ask that they do it themselves!

Boom45 · 04/04/2021 09:01

I almost always have a tea towel in with my regular wash as I lob them in the washing machine when they get gruby and then put a load in with them.
Some people are very weird about separating washing tho.

You need a dishwasher, then you wouldn't have this problem. Grin

Crazycatstory · 04/04/2021 09:01

I wash them separately, mostly because I do them hotter, and I don’t use softener with them (they, and towels, dry better without it).

Strangekindofwoman · 04/04/2021 09:02

Your partner can do the washing then.

allgoodinthehood · 04/04/2021 09:02

He has no issue washing them separately it just seems wasteful to me not just chucking them if the load is short.

I don't wash towels or tea towels in with clothes, but that's because they go on a higher temperature.

DropDTuning · 04/04/2021 09:04

I wash them separately at 60 and wash clothes at 40 or 30.

SquigglePigs · 04/04/2021 09:05

They all go in together here.

Rose5678 · 04/04/2021 09:05

I don’t like the feel of fabric softener on towels so do towels/cloths etc separately - the softener makes washcloths feel a bit slimy!

user1495884673 · 04/04/2021 09:06

On the rare occasion that we use a tea towel, I wash with regular towels but on a 60 wash.

MrsTophamHat · 04/04/2021 09:06

All of mine go in together. The only things i consistently do seperately are my wooly jumpers on a cold wash.

If i've got a lot of towels needing doing i might do a really hot wash now and then but I cba with that level of vigilance.

musicalfrog · 04/04/2021 09:06

I wash all my towels (and bedding) on 60, other clothes on 40.

That the 40 wash will not remove the potential germs on your tea towels would be my concern.

allgoodinthehood · 04/04/2021 09:06

I don't think they are particularly dirty though. They are used to dry the work tops (granite) . Clean one every day. We have a dish washer. So seriously they aren't that dirty.

The only thing that gets wasted separately is my NHS uniform that has to be washed daily on the hottest wash everything else gets chucked in on 40 degrees.

Lazierdays · 04/04/2021 09:07

Towels and tea towels together on a 60.
Regular clothes on a 40.
Wouldn’t be bothered either way though.

sirfredfredgeorge · 04/04/2021 09:08

you don't want fabric conditioner if you use it on anything that's designed to dry, so YABU, wash it with the manky sports kit instead.

gannett · 04/04/2021 09:09

I chuck everything in together without a second's thought.

I am a slattern though.

allgoodinthehood · 04/04/2021 09:09

I used to wash towels a lot more often until someone pointed out that you are drying a clean body. Now its every 3/4 days.

Sling a capful of Dettol laundry cleanser in and it will stop this disagreement. It kills 99.9% of germs.
