Someone that is controversial in the media or comes across unpleasant on TV or whatever?

What were they like in real life?

AIBU to think there might be some surprises and some of them will be a persona on TV or whatever?

@Cbeebiesischeesy

I have a reverse of this 🤷🏻‍♀️ So surprising to me as I really expected her to be completely different and very lovely. She presents morning tv every day.
Holly by any chance? As I've heard similar ..
WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/03/2021 20:51

My friend used to have to do some work for Priti Patel and said she is an awful woman.

In other news, Warwick Davies IS actually shorter than Greg Davies in real life Grin

Mehtothemeh · 15/03/2021 20:52

I think is definitely H.W, my friend has met her too and says is the mean girl/cheerleader/bitchy head girl type., a strong character.

I always thought she was the type you wanted to be mates with, a good laugh 🤷🏻‍♀️Perhaps not.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/03/2021 20:52

Holly by any chance? As I've heard similar ..

I took this to be referring to somebody from somewhat further north than Holly....

Mehtothemeh · 15/03/2021 20:53

Who is the quirky chef talked about above 🤷🏻‍♀️

CaffeineAndCrochet · 15/03/2021 21:22
@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll don't know about rude, but Rowan Atkinson is seriously odd. He is a conspiracy theorist and (at least 10 years ago) believed that he was being monitored and his brain infiltrated. He wrote to the government about it to ask them to stop following him.
I got his autograph after he played Fagan in Oliver in the West End. He came out to the stage door and signed autographs for everyone, but didn't make eye contact or chat. I'd heard beforehand that he's very reserved, very shy, and not to expect anything from him.

Burn Gorman was also in the show playing Bill Sykes. He was Owen on Torchwood, so kind of a TV villain. I didn't meet him that night but I did bump into him a couple of years later in an airport in Chicago. He was one of the nicest celebrities I've ever met.

BorderlineHappy · 15/03/2021 21:22

MS admitted assaulting her husband - so she might not be quite as sweet as she might seem. I don't know if there were any mitigating circumstances or if it was/she considered it to be self-defence??

Who is MS.? @WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRol

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/03/2021 21:30

Sorry - Mel Sykes.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/03/2021 21:36

A friend of mine worked at Stoke Mandeville on the children's wards, at the time Jimmy Saville was there. She is adamant that there was noting dodgy about him. Hmm But she also thinks the moon landings were faked

Toddlerteaplease · 15/03/2021 21:50

I met Daniel O'Donnell when he came to visit a patient of mine at work. she had tickets to his concert that day. But was to ill to go. He was absolutely lovely!

Iamthewombat · 15/03/2021 21:58

Now that everyone says by default that Jimmy Saville was clearly a bit creepy and odd, I would like to know how many of the people who lined the streets of Leeds watching his funeral cortège pass by and weeping, or who queued up to file reverently past his golden coffin in one of the hotels, admit to having done so.

Pity about Holly W. She always seems so lovely on the tv.

Iamthewombat · 15/03/2021 22:05

Glad to see that notorious villains Daniel O’Donnell and Julia Bradbury have been exposed.

YouokHun · 15/03/2021 22:10

@Thischarmlessgirl

David Jason lives locally to me and is apparently very shy. I’m a huge fan of Rowan Atkinson’s work but wouldn’t want to meet him as apparently he’s notoriously rude.
I’ve met Rowan Atkinson numerous times. He struck me as shy and I could see why he might be seen as rude, he was actually very polite but quite intense. We talked about cars last time and he became much more animated. I don’t think he’s that comfortable with fame.

If you meet him talk to him about cars @Thischarmlessgirl !

Toddlerteaplease · 15/03/2021 22:23

@WowIlikereallyhateyou

JackieTheFart, if you are UK based and read/watch the news you will know who Wagatha Christie is!
I'm in based and read the news. I have no idea who she is!
Toddlerteaplease · 15/03/2021 22:36

@Iamthewombat I completely forgot this was meant to be about villains!

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 15/03/2021 22:46

FIL bumped into the actor that played that Derek bloke who raped Lisa Dingle in Emmerdale in a pub and had a few pints with him, said he was really canny but everyone kept asking him why he raped Lisa 😂

FIL was also in Yorkshire way watching the football years ago and was waiting for a bus at a bus stop but didn't have a watch to see what time it was. Luckily a police officer (female) was nearby so he approached her to ask for the time... she screamed and ran off and FIL was questioned on suspicion of being Wearside Jack who pretended to be the Yorkshire Ripper in the hoax voice call

Twintub · 15/03/2021 22:57

@Iamthewombat I badly wanted to be on Jim il fix it but even at the tender naive age I thought he was old ugly and creepy and I definitely did not want to sit on his knee :-)

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/03/2021 23:01

She is adamant that there was noting dodgy about him. hmm But she also thinks the moon landings were faked

For some reason, that put into my head the Scouting For Girls song 'Elvis Ain't Dead'.

A large part of me thinks that JS's plan was so simply and carefully devised - that if he hid in plain sight, presenting himself as a grubby old pervert, and made no effort at all to try to blend in, then everybody would assume that nobody would be that obvious and that he must just be a harmless old eccentric.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 15/03/2021 23:03

Glad to see that notorious villains Daniel O’Donnell and Julia Bradbury have been exposed.

Does villainy against music count?

Twintub · 15/03/2021 23:03

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll yes I can get behind that theory totally !!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 15/03/2021 23:29

@Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin

My friend used to have to do some work for Priti Patel and said she is an awful woman. Rude, demanding and impatient.
What?! Shock

I just find that so difficult to believe!

Barnowl25 · 16/03/2021 03:42

Jimmy Saville was known for being a nasty pervert all through his career. A friend was often at BBC as a teenager because of her father's job and she said all the young girls knew not to be alone in a room with him. He was vile apparently and BBC let him get away with it.
Rod Stewart is lovely - attended a BBQ with him and Rachel Hunter when they were still married. Charming, happy to have photos taken with people.
Naomi Campbell not so lovely.
Peter Andre was absolutely charming (and wanted to take me out to dinner - this was pre Jordan).

Riv12345 · 16/03/2021 03:58

My friend worked backstage on the voice when Holly Willoughby was presenting it

She said she was a real diva wouldn't speak to anyone and was really up herself.

Also a former colleague had met her on this morning.
And said she was lovely when the cameras were on. But seemed to change as soon as they were off.
Back stage she walked past her. And holly blanked her completely
Apparently she was very odd
