Enjoying a Bath

Ladywinesalot · 27/02/2021 20:34

Ok I’m fully expecting to be told IABU, but I just don’t get the thing of having a Bath has a leisurely activity.
As in when ppl light candles, read a book and have a glass of wine in the Bath (shudders)

For some reason it makes me feel really vulnerable and aware of my nakedness. And I don’t like my boobs floating around!

When I was younger and before I had kids I was quite flat chested be didn’t mind a soak for a wash, but now my boobs are saggy I feel yuck in the Bath.

But I love my showers and shower daily!

So, Aibu about how pointless taking a Bath as a leisure activity?

OP posts:

YANBU in as much as I don't get it either but people like what they like don't they. Nothing to do with anyone else really!

MoroSun · 27/02/2021 20:36

Such a silly post, grow up

SunsetBeetch · 27/02/2021 20:36

I just find them boring. Don't get the appeal at all.

MiddlesexGirl · 27/02/2021 20:37

You do you.
I'll carry on luxuriating in my leisurely blissful bath Smile

TeaPiglet · 27/02/2021 20:37

It sounds more like a body confidence issue to me, hope this isn't the case OP 💕

AlCalavicci · 27/02/2021 20:38

I love having a long bath , I read or listen to audio books .
I have fallen in the bath asleep on many occasions , thats not so much fun !

isadorapolly · 27/02/2021 20:38

I love a bath, I have one every night! I do have a nice deep bath though and I think that’s the game changer.

The bit about your boobs is odd Confused

TeaPiglet · 27/02/2021 20:38

@MoroSun

Such a silly post, grow up
Maybe try being a bit kinder and sympathetic @MoroSun bit harsh...
FTEngineerM · 27/02/2021 20:39

Odd - it’s like writing a post saying you don’t like marmite.

Cool if that’s your thing, but unlikely to spark heated debate. Unless there’s a whole world of precious bathing technicalities I’m unaware of.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 27/02/2021 20:39

Yabu. I LOVE the bath so much. But I find water very comfortable and relaxing.

cardibach · 27/02/2021 20:39

Not for the same reasons as you, OP, but I don’t get it either. I’m just more comfortable in the sofa with wine, candles and my book...
And I have a fantabulous bath that I can actually lie flat in...

Chihuahuacat · 27/02/2021 20:40

You just have to use enough bubbles so you don’t sit there seeing your naked self!

Cam2020 · 27/02/2021 20:40

I love a bath! Best enjoyed once DD is in bed.

AlCalavicci · 27/02/2021 20:42

@cardibach .I now have bath envy , I did not know there was such a thing Grin

LibrariesGiveUsPower45321 · 27/02/2021 20:43

Love a good soak in a hot bath.

NiceGerbil · 27/02/2021 20:43

I find them dull as well.

I think a lot of the of thing about women loving baths is about getting away from the family.

I note that men's leisure activities are all about proper hobbies.

Women's are about getting away, usually combined with grooming (hairdresser, beautician etc) or making useful things (knitting crafting etc).

Interesting that.

saveforthat · 27/02/2021 20:44

I love baths. Mainly in the winter when you feel cold to your bones. Or after doing hard physical work e.g. gardening and yes I have book candles wine. Just bought expensive tray thing to put all stuff on.

NovemberR · 27/02/2021 20:44

I love a bath - but I'm a fast bather. I don't want to lurk in cooling water and once I get too hot I'm about done. (Goldilocks, I know Grin)

So I run about 4 inches of water, hop in, turn off the cold tap and swirl the hot water round me (with bubbles) until it's really deep. Occasionally I need to add a bit of cold. Then - the colour of a lobster, generally - I have a quick scrub and get out!

It takes about 10-15 mins from start to finish. DH will lie in scummy, lukewarm, grey water for an hour and a half, watching Youtube on his Kindle. That's not for me.

idontlikealdi · 27/02/2021 20:44

Don't see the point in them tbh, haven't had one since our shower was out of action eight years ago.

partyatthepalace · 27/02/2021 20:45

It's slightly like saying you don't like salmon or beach holidays OP, I am not sure where you are hoping this one will go.

I like a bath myself, in fact... I might go and have one.

freddiesmoustache · 27/02/2021 20:45

Yabu to think that bath is a proper noun

HerselfIndoors · 27/02/2021 20:46

I used to love reading in the bath but now I can't because I need glasses and they steam up :(. Still like a lovely bubble bath though.

But I do know several people who hate baths and don't get it.

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/02/2021 20:46

Not everyone likes the same things. That’s okay.

MiddlesexGirl · 27/02/2021 20:47

Not true in my case. I particularly enjoy a bath after a hard exercise session. And whilst it's true, I like the solitariness, I have lots of 'proper' (as you put it) hobbies.
littlepattilou · 27/02/2021 20:49

@Ladywinesalot YABU! I LOVE a bath. Candles, aromatherapy, soft music playing........ bliss. Grin
