Enjoying a Bath

Ok I’m fully expecting to be told IABU, but I just don’t get the thing of having a Bath has a leisurely activity.
As in when ppl light candles, read a book and have a glass of wine in the Bath (shudders)

For some reason it makes me feel really vulnerable and aware of my nakedness. And I don’t like my boobs floating around!

When I was younger and before I had kids I was quite flat chested be didn’t mind a soak for a wash, but now my boobs are saggy I feel yuck in the Bath.

But I love my showers and shower daily!

So, Aibu about how pointless taking a Bath as a leisure activity?

We're actually contemplating taking our bath out of the bathroom. It's a longterm home so not worried about price decrease. I can't use a bath due to disability (have a wetroom). But we've lived here for 3 years and know one has used the bath since we moved in, they use the shower over the bath. So think all my family would agree yanbu.

AllFrightOnTheNight · 27/02/2021 21:20

I don't mind a bath, but since I'm now fat, they're not particularly comfortable! Much nicer when I was a skinny Minnie.

SimonJT · 27/02/2021 21:21

I’m in the love a bath camp.

I have a wooden Japanese style soaking tub, I have my bath bits on rotation, so if I had a bath bomb during the last bath it means the next one is bath salts etc. If I had time (and I wasn’t on a water meter) I would have one every night.
@cardibach,
Ok so not only did you get it for a fantastic price , but at 5 inches taller than me you can still lie down in it ! Ya know a body could really fall out with some people on here Grin

Umm if you happen to notice a stranger walking up and down the streets near you carrying a buddle of towels , a can of cider and a book just point them in the right direction would you please Blush Grin
You would be very welcome @AlCalavicci!
It needs someone to appreciate it!

Can't remember the last time I had a bath - probably over 10 years ago. I don't see the point in waiting for it to fill up and don't find it relaxing reading a book/kindle in there. I can have a shower in a fraction of the time and relax on the sofa with my book and wine.

This thread is weirdly hostile.

I love having a bath. After a really tough day when I'm tired and achey there is nothing more relaxing than getting Into a hot bubble bath. I can feel the myself relaxing and al the aches easing away. It's also my chance to escape all the noise and badgering from the kids. I'm not one for candles etc but I do sometimes listen to my audiobook or look at stuff on my phone.

That sounds lovely and I love your bath ritual

Baths are dull. Uncomfortable and no space to stretch out.
Hot power showers are more relaxing.

FrangipaniBlue · 27/02/2021 21:30

@NiceGerbil

I find them dull as well.

I think a lot of the of thing about women loving baths is about getting away from the family.

I note that men's leisure activities are all about proper hobbies.

Women's are about getting away, usually combined with grooming (hairdresser, beautician etc) or making useful things (knitting crafting etc).

Interesting that.

My hobbies are proper sports and I quite like having a soak in the bath with some radox and Epsom salts to relax my muscles after a hard session, usually while the house is empty.

So hardly getting away from anyone Grin

I love a long bath – I often read but sometimes just soak.
I am sure that there are things you enjoy that I find it incomprehensible – e.g. I can’t imagine why anyone would waste an hour putting makeup on or choose to have a pedicure (painted toenails🤮) but you might enjoy those🤷‍♀️

We are all different
Let the bath lovers have their bath’s and you do whatever makes you happy Smile

redcandlelight · 27/02/2021 21:54

yanbu
I find it boring.
plus as I'm tallI always have bodyparts out of water that get cold.

candycrushsaga · 27/02/2021 22:01

I don't mind them but after having a toddler it's impossible. My friend just recently posted a bubble bath, candles, wine and a integrated bath flat screen watching Netflix on sm. This woman has 3 kids under 4 and one being a new born. She probably needs that 50 mins to herself to recover from a hectic day but I know myself, I know I won't be able to relax knowing my toddler would want something DH can't give and both be at the door disturbing me or if my toddler is asleep, he would wake up in a night terror forcing me out as DH can't calm him down. I think a bath without being on duty would only happen when DS leaves home and I have no responsibilities.

Snowymcsnowsony · 27/02/2021 22:04

I love a bath. Dc know after many years (and many dc) that bath night means buggar off and leave mam alone!
Dh commented the other night how water births must make childbirth easy as skin is supple in water so the baby can slide out easier!!
Confused

Mooloolabababy · 27/02/2021 22:22

I'm not a fan of baths. For me it's more that I just don't have the time really and I don't find them relaxing. I'd rather have a shower. The only time I have a bath is when I'm ill or if I'm cold to the bone and need to warm up.

MysweetAudrina · 27/02/2021 22:47

Bubble bath gives me bv and I only like really hot water but then I get all hot and sweaty which is uncomfortable and my book gets soggy and glasses steam up so while I like the idea of one it never really lives up to it. Prefer a yoga nidra class.

BRod5 · 16/08/2021 10:32

I used to prefer a long shower over a bath too but I found that if I buy luxurious products that I'll enjoy using then I'm happy to sit in the bath and use that time for meditation or some me time. Get yourself a nice epsom salts and bubble bath to cover the water. I love the WholyMe bath salts. Smells amazing and I always feel moisturised after - wholyme.com/products/relief-salts/

SheABitSpicyToday · 16/08/2021 10:35

Sometimes my husband and I get drunk in the bath together with some music Grin
