Is this a lot to drink?

So. DH doesn't drink at home. He doesn't like it. I like wine. I often drink a bottle a week. Sometimes more if we go out or have friends around (back when we could 😭)

So it ends up being 1 or 2 glasses 2 nights a week. Sometimes a cheeky third glass sneaks in but I always regret it in the morning 🤕. This happens about once every few weeks.

Is that a lot?

Not as far as I’m concerned.

4Mongrels · 26/02/2021 19:03

No!

Hangingover · 26/02/2021 19:04

No. Although interestingly even drinking an amount that small can put you at higher risk of developing breast cancer. Its really quite astonishingly bad for our bodies!

LucyMaxwellDM · 26/02/2021 19:05

No

VinylDetective · 26/02/2021 19:05

It sounds perfectly normal to me.

pumpkinpie01 · 26/02/2021 19:05

Nope I wouldn't say so

OnSilverStars · 26/02/2021 19:06

Thanks for the responses so far. I was just curious. It feels weird still that I'm drinking one but I just enjoy wine so much! And it's only a couple glasses. I do limit myself to this as I could easily have a glass or two every night! But like a PP said, it's surprisingly bad for us unfortunately!!

Slippy78 · 26/02/2021 19:06

Nope. That's hardly anything.

OnSilverStars · 26/02/2021 19:06

Should say drinking alone!

No, I think that’s a really moderate amount. Maybe have the occasional week off where you don’t drink anything if you’re particularly concerned.

lastqueenofscotland · 26/02/2021 19:40

A bottle a week is nothing!

CallmeAngelina · 26/02/2021 19:41

That's about what I'm aiming to cut down to!

TopTabby · 26/02/2021 19:41

That's a low to moderate amount & absolutely fine I would say.

Userg1234 · 26/02/2021 19:42

No. Admittedly I am a man but last night was 4 bottles of beer and a whole white wine bottle. Tonight 2 beers, bottle of red and I expect a short. Tomorrow and Sunday the same. And I drink a lot less than my friends

charliebear78 · 26/02/2021 19:44

You say you enjoy wine-I LOVE wine, so much I drink 3 bottles a week-maybe more!
So, No it is not a lot.

chipsandgin · 26/02/2021 19:49

No. There are 10 units in a bottle of wine, the recommended weekly limit is 14 so I don’t think you’ll be carted off to rehab any time soon, enjoy it & don’t worry!

LST · 26/02/2021 19:58

No. I'm on my 2nd bottle tonight! Let alone this week!

OnSilverStars · 26/02/2021 20:00

First time I've ever been happy I asked a question in Mumsnet! 😂. Will have that notorious third glass tonight!!

Not at all, enjoy! X

millenialblush · 26/02/2021 20:02

Well I only sniff a small glass of sherry on xmas day and that does me for the year! (I lie, cheers OP Wine)

As in, you've already had a whole bottle and now starting a second?
m0therofdragons · 26/02/2021 20:04

I guess it depends who you compare with. I only really drink socially so through lockdown I’m hardly drinking - Max One bottle of wine a month or two g&ts a month. In non covid I’d probably drink 2 bottles of wine a month but I’d have the odd month of not drinking at all. Not deliberately but I’m not a big drinker. I love wine but hate hangovers and pointless calories. I also love chocolate but moderate that too.

LST · 26/02/2021 20:06

Yep. Won't have anymore after this one. And I haven't had a drink since last Saturday

Christmasfairy2020 · 26/02/2021 20:11

What wine is it? I like asti martini which is low alcohol. Are they full gin glasses? I tend to have 3 small cans of g and diet tonic on a Saturday night
