Is this a lot to drink?

So. DH doesn't drink at home. He doesn't like it. I like wine. I often drink a bottle a week. Sometimes more if we go out or have friends around (back when we could 😭)

So it ends up being 1 or 2 glasses 2 nights a week. Sometimes a cheeky third glass sneaks in but I always regret it in the morning 🤕. This happens about once every few weeks.

Is that a lot?

I too love wine. I’m planning to cut down to drinking one bottle at the weekend....after this weekend. I’ve been particularly bad over the last couple of weeks.

I'm 3/4 way down a bottle of red tonight.

ThePerfectPintOfIceColdBeer · 26/02/2021 21:57

That's not a lot at all.

I only really drink at the weekends nowadays, maybe a couple of glasses of wine, the odd beer or glass of vodka. I probably drink more than you overall OP but I drink because I enjoy the taste and I enjoy how it makes me feel. It's not something I have to do, in fact I wouldn't want it every day.

That’s nothing. In an average week (I.e. at home, no socialising with friends or family) I have approx 2 G&Ts, a couple of beers and 3 bottles of wine. I don’t drink Mon-Thurs. I’m 40, size 10 and healthy.

I don't drink wine, I had too many bad experiences as a teenager 🤮 but that's not alot. All the fully fledged adults I know, have a glass or 2 at night.
Through the first lockdown I was drinking gin in the garden everyday. No one complained then.

Mishuckliza · 26/02/2021 23:20

I drink a bottle 5 times a week x

thepeopleversuswork · 26/02/2021 23:48

No. That's a pretty modest alcohol intake and not high enough to be considered dangerous.

Rollmopsrule · 26/02/2021 23:52

That's below 14 units a week and your getting alcohol free days In-between. I think your intake isn't anything to worry about.

MrsDThomas · 27/02/2021 08:23

Nope. I can easily go through 2 bottles of wine a week. I dont do it often but in the summer, Friday night sitting outside, glass in hand, and i will enjoy it on Saturday and too.

LakieLady · 27/02/2021 08:27

No.

I think it sounds entirely reasonable, but one or two alcohol-free days a week is supposed to be a good idea. You can make up for it on the other days. Wink

An0n0n0n · 27/02/2021 08:44

I think it's well within what is considered normal but if you are having it consistently it probably isn't great for your body (I don't think it's harmful but not optimum x)

Jam shed is a delicious red wine Grin
I now get the box so that I dont have to polish off the bottle while it’s still good.

MinnieJackson · 27/02/2021 10:21

@Userg1234 no judgement from me at all on the amount you drink but I just wondered if having beer and wine and a short gives you a really bad hangover? I can't switch drinks because I get such a headache
