We’re watching MAFSA.

I’m going to start timing his interruptions.

I am very close to exploding!!

Nope, go for it (fellow sufferer).

Snowymcsnowsony · 20/02/2021 21:48

Dh has just talked over coronation street to tell me about a farmer being spied on by the authorities for not splitting his field
..

Aquamarine1029 · 20/02/2021 21:49

I have a shovel.

RingingInTheChanges · 20/02/2021 21:50

Six comments to the TV in the last three minutes..

It used to be worse. He’d actually PAUSE the TV to make his comments. I’ve learned though. The remote is now firmly on my side of the sofa.

DH does this and also likes to interrupt me reading the newspaper to tell me about the news articles that he is currently reading. I pointedly lay it down to listen to him and then pick it up again when he's finished. 30 seconds later and he's doing it again. Solitary confinement in prison might actually allow me to read a full story without being disturbed.

RingingInTheChanges · 20/02/2021 21:54

12 comments in seven minutes.

Sssshhhhhhhhh!!!!

Oh god, 13!!

Solidarity to fellow sufferers.

I have actually found a cure..
We go to bed at 10 pm every night to watch telly. Dh is asleep within 20mins and I get to watch in peace!

Sexnotgender · 20/02/2021 21:57

Can you pause it every time he says something? Rewind to say just going to watch the bit you talked through as I couldn’t hear it!

True fact, over the last week I’ve had idle daydreams about having to spend time in a quarantine hotel...

Feel your pain! I make a point of pausing it every time he says something! Grin

M0mmyneedswine · 20/02/2021 21:58

DH does this, I pause the TV then he says 'last thing then I won't speak again'! It's never the last thing. Does the same when I'm reading

AlwaysLatte · 20/02/2021 21:59

My son does this too! Now if anyone wants to discuss what's happening we just pause it so no one misses anything Smile

Ithinkhedidit · 20/02/2021 21:59

Nooo I'm on your husband's side! Where's the fun in watching telly together if you can't chat?! Sadly my dh is like you - stony silence and passive aggressive pausing. Want to swap?!

RingingInTheChanges · 20/02/2021 21:59

We are up to 26 comments in 12 minutes.

Admittedly we are watching a rather controversial commitment ceremony, but still!!

NiceViper · 20/02/2021 22:00

Never mind the telly.

You can watch the sun go down, drink in hand, tomorrow evening sitting out on your brand new patio

But I can only hear half of what’s being said as he talks over the TV so much!! Angry 😂

If you need an alibi op, I'm your woman

MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 20/02/2021 22:13

I feel your pain. Mine interrupts me talking to voice his own sudden and important thought.

Can I borrow your shovel?

Cherrysoup · 20/02/2021 22:14

I need a new patio.....

Wishihadanalgorithm · 20/02/2021 22:20

Can’t you just tell him to ‘STFU’? DP will often talk over programmes but I pick up the remote, rewind, pause and then stare at him until he realises I don’t want to listen to him prattling on.

I could not put up with someone talking constantly over something I am watching and focusing on.

I’m sure this thread is supposed to be lighthearted but it’s things like this which lead to people snapping.

wishywashywoowoo70 · 20/02/2021 22:56

My DD does this through MAFSA I rewind so much of it and tell her to pipe down or I'll
Make her go to bed. Gives me rage honestly.
I like a chat about programmes with DH but not when this is in because I want to know what's being said

jewel1968 · 20/02/2021 22:59

I have found my people!

BIWI · 20/02/2021 23:02

Oh God! DH does this when the news is on. Gives his commentary/critique/observations of the story they're reporting when I'm trying to hear it. Drives me nuts. I tell him to shut up but he takes absolutely no notice and clearly thinks I'm the unreasonable one.
