to stop wearing a bra in lockdown?

I've continued wearing a bra while working from home because I've been worried my breasts will sag otherwise. But to my surprise, I've just read an article saying that wearing a bra can actually cause sagging! I've Googled and have found conflicting information on this. Does anyone have any insight? I hate wearing a bra, and if there's no benefit then I won't continue doing so in the house.

You have been wearing a bra this whole time?! Shock

CaraDuneRedux · 30/01/2021 15:16

If you're comfortable without, why not?

AdditionalCharacter · 30/01/2021 15:17

I've worn a bra maybe ten times since lockdown started in March last year. Do it, it's very liberating.

Mabelface · 30/01/2021 15:20

Hardly wear one at all now 😁

FredaFox · 30/01/2021 15:21

I wear one as I have big boobs and they are too wobbly without 🙈

Clawdy · 30/01/2021 15:28

Virtually never wear bra now, since lockdown. Much more comfortable without.

BiBabbles · 30/01/2021 15:33

Sagging is more caused by size, how well the muscles involved work (which is why some think bras can cause sagging, it might make the muscles weaker to have something else do the work), and genetics.

I haven't worn a bra in over 16 years (stopped while pregnant with my first as it was driving me nuts), no sag, but I'm on the small-average size side. Comfort first, might as well give it a try!

TheKeatingFive · 30/01/2021 15:34

Go for it!

I have big boobs, there is no way I can do without a bra. But if that wasn’t the case, I’d ditch it for sure.

Sparklesocks · 30/01/2021 15:34

Honestly I’ve barely been wearing a bra since we first locked down last year Grin

This!
PenCreed · 30/01/2021 15:35

Me too @FredaFox - I'm more comfortable in a properly fitting bra! It's one of the reasons why I rarely spend the day in PJs.

daisyjgrey · 30/01/2021 15:36

I have enormous boobs, although they're pretty much where they should be, and I would be a sweaty squishy mess without a bra. Apparently Molke do good halfway house type bra/bra tops which might be worth investigating.

SherlocksSocks · 30/01/2021 15:39

Go got it, I'm big of boob and work from home 50% of the week and go bra less when at home, and only wear a sports bra/bralette when in the office, all loads more comfy than a conventional bra.

thelegohooverer · 30/01/2021 16:20

Be careful. I found wearing bras a barrier to re entering society last time. I seriously considered becoming a full time hermit

Bagelsandbrie · 30/01/2021 16:22

Couldn’t care less if they sag or not. I hate wearing bras. I’m a 32H and just wear stretchy crop top things or Molke bras. If I ever become bothered about them sagging I’ll just wear a proper bra again but I can’t see myself caring enough...!

hellasciously · 30/01/2021 16:25

Mine comes off as soon as I walk through the front door which hasn't been an awful lot recently lol.

AnnaMagnani · 30/01/2021 16:36

I wear a bra for work and that's it. Out of work the bra is gone.

Went out of the house without bra and no-one died or shouted or pointed despite the giant braless boobs so I seemed to get away with it so that has been it for bras since lockdown began.

Also the sag had set in well before the bra was abandoned. They will sag bra or no bra. Just be comfortable!

BeMoreLikeBuddy · 30/01/2021 16:42

I am a 32 G & wear sleep bras from Bravissimo during the day now. Much comfier than a real bra but I definitely need something. Off to research Molke bras now!

Hankunamatata · 30/01/2021 16:44

In another thread I said iv moved over to toga top with bra support thingy. So comfy, no bulging bits and boobs seem to look better

Hankunamatata · 30/01/2021 16:44

yoga

BackforGood · 30/01/2021 16:48

I haven't voted as, quite frankly, YANBU to do whatever makes you comfortable,
but what I can't understand is why so many women are buying bras that they aren't comfortable in, in the first place. Confused

I am not huge - pretty 'average' I'd have thought, but I'd be uncomfortable not wearing a bra, but I don't have any bras that make me feel uncomfortable.

FolkyFoxFace · 30/01/2021 16:49

I haven't worn a bra in over a decade, and they're definitely not saggy!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 30/01/2021 16:55

I haven't worn a bra in months. I'll probably have to buy some when I start working again.

Hotzenplotz · 30/01/2021 16:56

I'm jealous of this braless brigade. I get aches and pains if I don't wear one.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 30/01/2021 16:59

Wear whatever you want, but if your bra is uncomfortable its probably the wrong size - the same as people who find jeans uncomfortable, they're probably too small in that case!
