to stop wearing a bra in lockdown?

I've continued wearing a bra while working from home because I've been worried my breasts will sag otherwise. But to my surprise, I've just read an article saying that wearing a bra can actually cause sagging! I've Googled and have found conflicting information on this. Does anyone have any insight? I hate wearing a bra, and if there's no benefit then I won't continue doing so in the house.

If I had small boobs I might try without but mine are too big for it to be comfortable.

DieSchottin93 · 30/01/2021 17:00

As soon as the first lockdown started I ditched the bras. I only have little boobs anyway, currentIy only wear a bra when I'm going to be doing a short cardio workout because my crop tops aren't quite supportive enough. Normally I only wear a bra when I'm at work or exercising, on my days off I don't bother with a bra at all. Mine are small enough that a baggy hoodie covers them up 😂😂

Glitterblue · 30/01/2021 17:04

I can never believe how many people hate bras and find them so uncomfortable! None of mine are uncomfortable and I don't feel dressed without one, I can't bear not wearing one!

Rummikub · 30/01/2021 17:09

I’ve not worn one most of the time for years. Not much sagging.
I wore a bra recently and bloody hell
It was uncomfortable.
The first time I went out without a bra I felt a bit self conscious but got over it.
I don’t think I wore one at all through most of my 20s either.
Horrid things.

Jeremyironseverything · 30/01/2021 17:12

I've invested in some soft bra, top things that semi support my large boobs. No under wire.
Compromise. Somethings I let them go free or will put a proper bra on occasionally.
I suspect I will go back to proper support when I'm not wearing a coat so much as the weather warms up, and I am being seen in public.

letmethinkaboutitfornow · 30/01/2021 17:14

I love wearing a bra! Cannot imagine getting dressed and not putting one on 🤔🤔

How can someone not wear one? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤔😳

Jeremyironseverything · 30/01/2021 17:15

They were a lot cheaper than molke

speakout · 30/01/2021 17:19

I am far more comfortable in a bra.
I have big boobs with a mind of their own, I like the feeling of support a bra gives me- but I do wear a soft sports bra, nothing tight or wired

Lulu1919 · 30/01/2021 17:22

I never wear a bar at home unless we have non family company !

PishFood · 30/01/2021 17:23

My nips are too big to go without, especially in this weather. I like something with a bit of padding to hide them.

Pieceofpurplesky · 30/01/2021 17:29

Even before lockdown my arrival Jone routine was coat hung up, shoes off, bra off ...

I now only wear one on the days I have to be in work - And I am ample in norkage

dontgobaconmyheart · 30/01/2021 17:31

Just do what you feel best doing with your own body OP, and what is most comfortable for you. That's the only rationale required.

I'm 33 and have a fairly large bust for my frame but gave up proper bras at least 5 years ago in favour of stretchy crop tops and the odd bralette. I wouldn't have given the sagging issue consideration and don't feel a need to buy in to misogynistic nonsense that breasts looking 'better'means they are set higher and sit prouder outwards the chest. For who? Why? For me that doesn't check out.

I don't think any 'sagging' has happened other than perhaps some normal ageing, I'm happy with how they look regardless and would never go back as I found fastened and underwire bras uncomfortable and restrictive (despite being fitted properly in reputable places more than once). Each to their own ultimately though!

peak2021 · 30/01/2021 17:37

If you are happy, and there is no Zoom calls or others with video, perfectly reasonable to me.

UseOfWeapons · 30/01/2021 17:41

I only wear a bra at work. Hate them, they are crucibles of Satan!
Once I walk through my front door, bra comes off.
As a fully paid up member of the itty bitty titty committee, I couldn’t give a rats arse if they sag. I’m nearly 55, and my comfort is more important than having abnormally uplifted breasts. Many countries believe that wearing a bra weakens chest muscles, causing sagging, so it’s clearly a cultural thing.
Give it a go, the freedom is magnificent!

ithoughtisawapuddycat · 30/01/2021 17:45

I've got big boobs that are now like pancakes when I lie down due to weightloss. However i got measured properly for the first time ever in September and my bras are so comfy and well fitting I barely notice them. I'm a 40FF so definitely need a bra but thankful for such good ones - blooming pricey though.

Iamnotminterested · 30/01/2021 17:47

I ditched them about 6 months ago for kids' crop tops from Primark and have never looked back.

I get the biggest size they make, age 15-16 Blush and they are the comfiest things EVER - no wires, itchy lace, tight straps, showing under clothes...my DC are highly embarrassed that I wear kids' underwear though Grin

BaggoMcoys · 30/01/2021 17:49

Id go with whatever feels most comfortable. I have rarely worn one since having my DD over 6 years ago! I have very small breasts though, I can imagine bigger ones may feel more comfortable with the support (no idea If that's true).

Laiste · 30/01/2021 17:54

I'm blessed/cursed with a lot of norkage and i wont be risking any saggage to test it out Grin

Bra goes on when i get up and comes off when i go to bed. Every.day.come.what.may

Laiste · 30/01/2021 17:55

I'm less comfy with bra off tbh. Unless in bed.

marmitecake · 30/01/2021 18:14

If I did this it would be like smuggling a sea lion under each armpit. I would love to. Who's going to know. No one I suppose.

TheGoogleMum · 30/01/2021 19:04

I'm still working so still wearing them. Since being pregnant with DD in 2018 I've stopped wearing wired bras though. Comfort over looks!

FlyingPandas · 30/01/2021 19:09

I have small boobs and would probably be perfectly physically comfortable without one but I would never in a million years go without a bra. I need a bit of padding and shaping and support for my clothes to look half decent Grin and I would feel very vulnerable and deeply unattractive without a bra. So I wear one every day regardless of whether I'm going to work or not. It's nothing to do with what anyone else sees or thinks, it's what I see and think about myself. Mine are soft and comfy and make me feel better. No idea about whether they help or hinder the sagging thing but one of the joys of small boobs is that you don't really sag anyway.

MrsGulDukat · 30/01/2021 19:38

I only wear bras when I'm out. Never wear them in the house.

I'm big of boob and I cant stand wearing bras but it would be obvious if i wasnt wearing one.

Holothane · 30/01/2021 19:41

I stopped because I found putting them on and painful and the front doing up ones kept undoing, today I wear baggy T-shirt’s or cover up I’m much more comfortable no sweating in the summer either. Well not as much.
