I know she gets a lot of hate on here and online but I don't know why? I really like her. She seems like a nice person, good mum, nice appearance etc. I think she's good at her job and seems sweet and good hearted. Am I delusional?

I'm with you! I don't really understand the intense dislike for her on here.

pepsicolagirl · 19/01/2021 11:32

I like her. She seems like a decent and kind person.

froggydoggy · 19/01/2021 11:33

I like her too! I think the hate is just jealousy, she outwardly seems to have it all.

AryaStarkWolf · 19/01/2021 11:34

I like her, don't know why people don't

ShowOfHands · 19/01/2021 11:37

I am utterly indifferent to her having never watched a programme she's on.

Lots of women get ripped apart on here and for the most spurious of reasons. I don't think jealousy is anything to do with it tbh, I think we have a society where the mainstream press, social media and patriarchal institutions delight in and normalise extreme criticism of women simply for the way they look, the normal choices they make, the way they parent and so on.

fimimifi · 19/01/2021 13:34

Oh good I'm glad I'm not alone. The dislike is odd isn't it? Always thought it must be jealousy or maybe I was missing something.

Yes @ShowOfHands you are probably right.

She seems sweet. It’s Phillip I can’t stand, and their cringey ‘banter’.

SendHelp30 · 19/01/2021 13:38

I really like Holly. Philip, on the other hand ...

DioneTheDiabolist · 19/01/2021 13:45

Same @AllTheChocolateNow and @SendHelp30. I think some of the Holly hate stems from her association with him.

FellowFlipFlop · 19/01/2021 13:48

I don't think it's jealousy to find her extremely dull

AllTheChocolateNow · 19/01/2021 13:49

Yes@DioneTheDiabolist

She’s much more palatable in her own.

To be honest, she presents drivel on TV so that also informs people’s opinions of her, I guess. But personally , I find her quite pleasant and endearing when I do occasionally catch her.

thepeopleversuswork · 19/01/2021 13:52

I don't have an opinion on her either way. She's a woman who presents a fairly dull TV programme reasonably competently. I can't really understand why people get exercised about her one way or the other.

Sparklingbrook · 19/01/2021 13:54

She seems ok. I suppose if you don't know her in RL you don't know what she's really like.
I don't really enjoy watching her on This Morning as I don't think she deals with the more serious subjects very well and all the fits of laughter with PS are a bit Hmm.
Quite how she managed to be on Celebrity Juice each week doing what she did on there then next minute being all serious on the sofa I'm not sure.

liverpool1981 · 19/01/2021 13:56

I love Holly she has the most amazing life and job

Sparklingbrook · 19/01/2021 13:57

Tell us more about her amazing life.
Calmandmeasured1 · 19/01/2021 13:57

I don't watch This Morning but I've seen her on Dancing on Ice and she seems nice enough to me.
I've not noticed any hate on here for her, but I hate it when people put criticism down to jealousy. Why would anyone who doesn't actually know her in real life feel the slightest bit jealous? Do people mean envy of her lifestyle rather than jealousy? (Although envy is a pointless emotion too).

Mia1415 · 19/01/2021 13:59

I like her too, and can't understand the dislike.

Sparklingbrook · 19/01/2021 13:59

In the past whenever Victoria Beckham came up on a thread and people said they didn't care much for her, it always brought cries of 'you're jealous'. No idea why. You can not particularly like someone but not be jealous of them.

Bluntness100 · 19/01/2021 14:03

I think she’s fine, I like her as much as any presenter. I also don’t get it. I suspect some of it is is she’s pretty, successful, slim, wealthy.,,,maybe not all though, as I can’t stand Amanda Holden, I’m not envious, I just find her grating, fake and up herself. I just don’t get the same vibe from holly.

Fieldofyellowflowers · 19/01/2021 14:06

I like her too. She does get a lot of hate from some posters. Whenever there is a person on television who seems to be quite nice a proportion of mumsnet feel the need fo slag them off. It says more about them than it does about her.

thepeopleversuswork · 19/01/2021 14:11

Yeah I find that bizarre: it assumes that everyone obsesses over the lives of moderately famous people and any lack of interest in them is perceived as evidence of envy. In fact lots of us just haven't given the matter much thought.

I have no strong views on Holly Willoughby one way or the other: I don't really understand why she's thought to be such a cultural lightning rod...

Bluetonic41 · 19/01/2021 14:14

Have a read on the Holly thread on Tattle Life, its interesting

Sparklingbrook · 19/01/2021 14:16

'I find annoying'
'You are just so jealous of her'
'No I just find her annoying'

You don't have to like every presenter on the TV. I record Strictly so I can zip through and don't have to watch the presenting. Grin

Strange subject for an AIBU though, not seen a thread about HW one way or the other lately. What's brought this on?

Mary46 · 19/01/2021 14:23

I like her. I think she cut back on other contracts for more family time. If Phil didnt keep cutting over her and let her speak. She seems lovely
