Did i just flash my class on Microsoft teams?!

Ok posting for traffic

Just finished an online class on Microsoft teams, my baby needed breastfed so i turned off my screen and DH came in and gave her to me, my screen only showed me from the shoulders up so put my screen back on.

DH is now telling me that sometimes they can see a bigger view than what i can?!

(I dont mind breastfeeding in public btw but my DD often comes off to smile at me leaving me exposed Blush)

Any tech savvy people know if ive been accidentally flashing my teacher and class mates?!

Shock

I hope this isn't true. I had two meetings in bed today.

Lifeinaonesie · 18/01/2021 19:26

Mine can show a bigger view but it's usually to the sides rather than down.

Daisy829 · 18/01/2021 19:26

Unfortunately I think your Dh is correct. I noticed this the other day but to be honest it doesn’t show much more so I think if it was from shoulders up you should be okay.

Daisy829 · 18/01/2021 19:26

Oh yes @Lifeinaonesie mine was too the side too now I think about it.

MaggieFS · 18/01/2021 19:28

Yes, I've had this and only with teams, not zoom. Thought my fat tum was out of shot based on the little picture of me in the corner but then someone sent round a screen shot afterwards and there it was!

I think it's very wrong, for exactly reasons such as the OP's.

OP, I imagine you didn't though or there would have been some reaction.

hannahbananananananana · 18/01/2021 19:29

Im totally mortified if they could see! Although when she does come off her head was probably covering the area ... hopefully Confused i mean I could only see them all from the shoulders up too, it was a presentation as the main screen and then showed 4 little screens at the bottom of each of us and alternated as theres about 10 in the class

MaLarkinn · 18/01/2021 19:33

they’d never see mine as they’re round my ankles Grin

hannahbananananananana · 18/01/2021 19:34

@MaggieFS

Oh god right down to the stomach!

I didn't notice any reactions tbh and I really do think DD would have covered anyway, i think im going to choose to completely no one seen anything as I honestly could only see everyone else from the shoulders up too Confused

Lol at least this is giving me a laugh

SpudsandGravy · 18/01/2021 19:37

Oh no! I hope this isn't A Thing! From time to time during Teams calls I smoke and hold my cigarette what I've been thinking is off the screen. If it's been visible it'll have been even worse than just openly smoking! Shock

ALbigbump · 18/01/2021 19:37

@iftherewereahorseyinthehouse
😂

MaggieFS · 18/01/2021 19:38

Don't panic! The angle for me was straight on so I knew boob level was in, just hadn't wanted tummy! It wasn't that I could only see shoulders upwards and it showed tummy!

Lipz · 18/01/2021 19:40

Oh christ. Yes you can see different amounts on different size screens. One of our teachers does her live classes from her bedroom, last week I had a full side view of her bed with clothes airer with underwear on it. I didn't care, thought it was funny so text her just in case she wasn't aware and she was so shocked, saying she and her dh were checking on all devices that nothing in the room was showing.

Same doing a zoom birthday party and my sil asked me where I got the throw on the other chair beside us, this chair was not on my screen and I thought thank fuck I'd cleaned up properly and not shoved all the crap onto that chair.

While you don't mind bf in public or being exposed accidentally you need to think about the kids on the other end of the screen. I've seen it with my kids classes of screen shots been taken and parents complaining about what's on show.

Chillypenguin · 18/01/2021 19:40

Yes it can happen - i had a box of beer on the bed behind me (purely because it needed putting away in the cupboard) it was definitely off screen for me and my manager pointed it out!!

hannahbananananananana · 18/01/2021 19:47

OMG this is
Not looking good 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Im guessing i can probably see less as i use my phone but others using tablets/laptops can see more maybe

Lol all adults not children, its a university course online due to covid.

Im just hoping that even if i could be seen breastfeeding they couldn't actually see anything indecent as i was directly in front of the screen and even when she came off her head should have covered everything.

My camera is definitely staying off next time!!!

Is it really necessary to be feeding the baby when you're working? What would happen with baby's feeds if you were AT work (as in leaving the house to go and teach)?
Couldn't you have just waited and fed the baby after the class? I'm assuming she's not a tiny newborn as else you'd still be on maternity leave.

Wotrewelookinat · 18/01/2021 19:59

@MaLarkinn

they’d never see mine as they’re round my ankles Grin
That made me spurt out my tea 🤣🤣🤣🤣.
mumwon · 18/01/2021 20:04

out of interest what subject? (students may be more accepting! Mind I think your student will be paying more attention to the screen! - actually op -it maybe that they wouldn't have noticed because they were writing notes or involved with their own screen, rather like that psychology distraction experiment.)Grin

eatyourcake · 18/01/2021 20:05

I would test it! Why don't you Teams your partner and look at how much he can see?

Sheleg · 18/01/2021 20:10

Ohgod - last week I joined a Zoom meeting of a voluntary organisation I'm part of. I was holding a napping baby DD, who started crying just as I was let into the Zoom. I wasn't muted, and didn't realise. My colleagues were treated to at least 5 full minutes of DD screaming, me flapping, and DH yelling "put her to the boob! Put her to the boob!"

Mortifying.

SuperCaliFragalistic · 18/01/2021 20:12

This is awful. I often have teams meetings from my bed with crisp packets and other detritus just out of shot. Better up my game...

Hugoslavia · 18/01/2021 20:13

Well thank you for the cautionary tale. And hopefully my gin bottle has been out of shot.

DolphinDreams · 18/01/2021 20:16

Whaaat??? They can see more than is visible in the video shot I see ??? This is dreadful news. Very threatening. Always carefully compose the shot to avoid the assorted crap around the room / my neck etc etc.

hannahbananananananana · 18/01/2021 20:16

@cautiouscovidity

I am on maternity leave, its a class im doing in my free time, not work related
