Just finished an online class on Microsoft teams, my baby needed breastfed so i turned off my screen and DH came in and gave her to me, my screen only showed me from the shoulders up so put my screen back on.

DH is now telling me that sometimes they can see a bigger view than what i can?!

(I dont mind breastfeeding in public btw but my DD often comes off to smile at me leaving me exposed )

Any tech savvy people know if ive been accidentally flashing my teacher and class mates?!

Surely you shouldn’t be feeding the baby while working? What happens normally when you’re working outside the home?

@hannahbananananananana i suspect they couldnt see. to be honest if they saw a babies head wouldnt they comment/coo? so i suspect they couldnt see anything else either. A cat walked behind (teenage) DDs teacher during a teams video the other day and they all errupted into squeals. Poor cat was terrified and legged it. Odd thing is we have 2 cats that DD ignores

Oh noooo! So when I think I'm sat just out of shot of DD's teams school lessons and zoom dance classes... I'm probably not?! God they've all seen me in my trusty dressing gown 🤦‍♀️ Last week I sat and ate leftover chicken nuggets during the dance class, I bet they all saw that too, bugger.

My apologies. I thought you meant you were the lecturer / teacher.

Sometimes on tablets the shot is a super close up of the face too. I once hosted a meeting where I was in the room with my colleague on teams and we were basically talking to her nose and left eye. Disconcerting and she must have seen a wider view on her screen?

Im guessing i can probably see less as i use my phone but others using tablets/laptops can see more maybe

This is it OP. You will have different views based on device.

However, it'll generally be the host that will see something, not necessarily all the participants.

But I really doubt anything too revealing was shown! All they might have seen was your baby feeding, which of course is fine.

I understand about items out of shot! I teach at university - I've only realised this at times when I've recorded the class while teaching & see it back afterwards. I tend to blur my background now (Teams) & I think this is great. I don't like the fake backgrounds but blurring makes sure no personal stuff on show but I'm clear to students.

Yes you're probably right, it was right at the end of an hour and a half class (the last ten minutes), the lecturer was finishing the class and did mention her but this was when i was patting her back (on mute) and her head was aligned with my head

Ask to see the video recording they will have made in line with safeguarding procedures

If you’re a primary/secondary school teacher I’m guessing you’d have noticed some visible sniggering if they could see anything .

If you use Windows 10, use the Camera app to show you what the camera can see. If you're using Teams or Zoom, use a fake background.

I’m a lecturer and have been live teaching on Teams since March - my cat has frequently joined calls, but after DP waltzed into the kitchen in his dressing gown I set up a background image that it defaults to. I switch them up seasonally. Right now it’s a field of daffodils, and I asked my students to do spring-y backgrounds too. At Christmas we all had festive scenes!

What!?? I started not wearing a bra thinking no one could see me below the chest and now I find this out. Fuck!

I think you should be alright. My husband forgot his phone was still participating in a meeting while he went to the toilet. He was told about it afterwards.

My laptop camera definitely captures things that you would assume out of shot.

The other week I had a teams meeting sat on my bed, with the laptop at an angle and noticed half way through that a bottle of lube and box of tissues were visible on the headboard!! I thought it was way out of shot

Oh my god.

So many meetings on teams where clutter has been shives just slightly out of view.

So many times I’ve had pyjamas on with a non-pyjama looking top.

Many meetings in bed

Many meetings on the sofa.
