Did i just flash my class on Microsoft teams?!

Ok posting for traffic

Just finished an online class on Microsoft teams, my baby needed breastfed so i turned off my screen and DH came in and gave her to me, my screen only showed me from the shoulders up so put my screen back on.

DH is now telling me that sometimes they can see a bigger view than what i can?!

(I dont mind breastfeeding in public btw but my DD often comes off to smile at me leaving me exposed Blush)

Any tech savvy people know if ive been accidentally flashing my teacher and class mates?!

It's rather sad that a couple of pps are suggesting OP shouldn't have been breastfeeding whilst working in the first place. Good on you, OP.

Oh hell !
It’s no good anyone saying ‘it’s only a bit more that others can see’ or ‘only along the sides’ etc. Some of us clearly spend ages making sure the beer/fag/breast/chaos it out of sight.
Having said that I always use a background.
I’ve also started to not trust my ‘camera off’ ‘microphone off’ settings. Before a teams meet the other day I was logged in early and then wanted to go to the loo. I came out of that meeting beforehand. For some reason I’m trusting nothing about this. Still putting blue tack over laptop camera when not in use. Grin

OH NO!!!! This is not good for me at all, so many times I have had Teams/Skype calls at work with the mess in the background just out of view Blush

NightCzar · 19/01/2021 02:31

You can put someone in Focus or Pin them and you'll be on the full screen for them. I usually do that with any meeting presenter.

Clymene · 19/01/2021 02:34

You can blur your background on teams. I only ever turn my camera on when that's done!

NightCzar · 19/01/2021 02:35

For background issues in Teams, go to the 3 dots > apply background effects > choose the blurred background.

I've learned all this the hard way after telling a firmwide meeting that "it was ducking impossible DD had nits during lockdown and I would check the whole family after this call".

Also everyone check recorded meetings/appointments if you have any - that the person recording has turned it off or that you have left the meeting. Had a meeting other day where I was waiting for another person to enter teams - they didn’t - I left teams open unwittingly working on other stuff. An hour later saw teams screen and the recording was still going. I talk to myself a lot when working. Shock god knows what they may have recorded/heard.

Yes you can see more on a bigger screen. We have larger screens in work compared to home.

@mumwon
😕
"I agree, zoom meet up are more interesting than old school ways (traditional way of meetings" L.o.l 😊😀😁

Oblomov20 · 19/01/2021 06:45

I hadn't thought of this. How frightening.

iftherewereahorseyinthehouse · 19/01/2021 06:50

@Trulyatraditionalman

Anyone else now worried they've been secretly scrolling with their phone just out of shot, but actually totally in shot?! Shock
OH GOD
inquietant · 19/01/2021 06:53

Ugh, this thread is so worrying.

I am very paranoid though so hoping that will help avoid accidental reveals of possessions or self

CharityDingle · 19/01/2021 12:14

I always sit with my back to my most boring kitchen wall, when on zoom. I thought people could only see what I see, i.e me, and my kitchen wall. Grin
