To be fair, most adverts for 'feminine hygiene' products are horrendous. Nobody wants to go roller blading in an all-white outfit when they're on a period. I'd like to see them marketed frankly. [Yorkshire voice] "Look, this week sucks. We know it sucks, you know it sucks. But these tampons are the absolute bomb, you won't even feel them, and they soak up EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. So you can crack on with eating cheesecake and watching Love Actually." [End scene]

The only secret weapon in pants is the knob in mens pants - gives them a pass to the front row of life.

Ads that have been dubbed. You know the disgusting washing machine gunge ones where the actors are obviously speaking German but the noise is in English.

The worst of these though was one they used to show in Canada which was an American ad for L'Oreal hair colour. Same ad, same voice in both but in the Canadian one there was an obvious dub to say "Preference" by L'Oreal instead of the American "Excellence". What made it really bad was that the next line was "Because you're worth it!" Well except if you were Canadian as they couldn't be arsed to revoice the ad properly.

Still bugs me despite knowing logically it made sense given the different sizes of the markets - as the entire Canadian population was equivalent to that of New York City. Then again why did they have a different name for the same product?

The cillit bang ad they used to have "hi, I'm Barry Scott". It was on so often and we eventually googled Barry Scott to see who the heck he was as he introduced himself like someone you should know. Turns out the person doesn't exist. Just found that annoying.
Also the Go Compare ads, which I imagine irritate most people.

The new Go Compare as is weird. It's about half an hour long and it's basically the bloke advertising himself.

I won't hear a word against Imbarryscott though.

It’s not a secret weapon....it’s something that averting disaster or a change of clothes. It’s a stupid strap line that suggests bragging rights ....nobody would ever brag about using Tena pads, just like no woman would go sky diving because she was using tampons. These are clearly dumb ass male marketeers.

Irritating adverts are actually usually done on purpose. Becayse rhey are hugely effective. You remember them and what they are for, and that trigger often makes you buy the product if you need it, becayse you recognise and remember the name.

That's the idea, but I used to avoid cillit bang because the adverts annoyed me so much. I vowed never to buy it, but that was years ago and I think I might need to try the mould remover soon...
