I've been part of this local tight-knit volunteering group for about a year now. Recently, there was a change in 'leadership' which is fine. I have, however, been told by her (twice!) to change my email address (it's listed in the private group listing) as it looks 'rude'!

My email address is simply firstnamelastname, with my first name being probably the most popular shortened variant of a fairly popular name. In her eyes, it contains nothing but 2 bad words which 'gives the wrong impression'. Surely people aren't that daft to not realise that it's just my name, and a well-known one at that?

I'm gobsmacked by the ridiculousness of it all. AIBU?

I know someone whose email address is [initial][surname]@provider.com and [initial][surname] is a real word. Maybe your [nn][surname] is a rude word.

Obviously you can't give us your email address but maybe she thinks that you're trying to be funny or deliberately rude, given your name? Have you tried talking to her about it?
