Sea swims, runs and cycle rides

Besswess88 · 11/01/2021 00:47

I don’t need to see it.

I live by the sea and it’s suddenly become fashionable (because there is FUCK ALL else to do) to become a fucking butter and go into the sea every day sans wetsuit.

Not only this but to post it every fucking day on SM, one friend posts her husbands (he’s in his 60s so seriously may have a heart attack) and the other evening posted an apology for not posting that mornings swim.

I don’t fucking care.

How do you ride a bike in the sea?

Besswess88 · 11/01/2021 00:50

Ack you know what I mean - Strava. Grin

Well there’s sod all else to be doing!? No one’s social media is going to have photos of their night out, trip to London or the local amusement park is it?

Besswess88 · 11/01/2021 00:57

I take a shit and eat every day and go to work, that’s not on SM either.

Sea swimming? In January? Unless you live in Dubai, fuck that.

AndcalloffChristmas · 11/01/2021 01:13

I have noticed an increase in sea swimming as the new thing. I guess people need to find things to do!

ComtesseDeSpair · 11/01/2021 01:16

I quite enjoy seeing my friend who lives in the Scottish Borders post photos of herself swimming in the local loch because it is currently -12 degrees outdoors and she is insane enough to go swimming. And to be honest, I’d rather see photos of exercise than another tedious post from somebody who has decided to be the Covid police and set their own rules ranting about how their neighbours are risking lives by talking to each other over the garden fence or killing grannies because they went to the supermarket three times last week and bought non essentials.

Frolicinameadow · 11/01/2021 01:18

Is the dip in icy water supposed to be good for you? Loads doing it round my way and while I think fair play to them I have wondered if there are any benefits to it

yankeedoodledandee · 11/01/2021 01:21

I'm not sure what's wrong with going in the sea? I live in a coastal town and it's really popular here just now, what with life being fucked in almost every other aspect. It's a good thing.

And why does being in your 60s mean you seriously might have a heart attack? What would you like this man to do? Stay at home?

yankeedoodledandee · 11/01/2021 01:22

@Besswess88

I take a shit and eat every day and go to work, that’s not on SM either.

Oh come on. Some people use social media in different ways. Some post a lot, others don't. Who cares 🤷🏻‍♀️

CaptainCabinets · 11/01/2021 01:22

So unfollow her if you ‘don’t fucking care’, what a non-issue. Confused

These people have hobbies, might I suggest you find one of your own?

grassisjeweled · 11/01/2021 01:24

It's all very trendy nowadays. Like cycling

Besswess88 · 11/01/2021 01:26

It’s just so you have to post every bloody day?

We get it, you sea swim.

OP posts:
Besswess88 · 11/01/2021 01:28

It’s like me posting my journey to work every day isn’t it?

It’s dull and monotonous when it’s something you do daily.

Yes I could hide them but that’s not the point is it? Why why do people post this shit on a daily basis.

OP posts:
AIMD · 11/01/2021 01:29

Why are you on social media?!
It’s full of inane stuff like this....that’s the point of it isn’t it - ‘social’ media.

Burns a hell of a lot of calories even if you just bob about and don't put much effort in.
Besswess88 · 11/01/2021 01:33

I was at the beach yesterday and there were two ladies getting into the sea wearing swimming costumes. One of them wore a bobble hat into the actual sea.

Surely a swimming cap is more sensible?

Better than the shit you are posting Grin

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 11/01/2021 01:39

Doing it fine, crack on.
Thinking anyone else gives a shit and posting it all over their sm, not fine. Fucking tedious. I think that about everything people post on sm about themselves though.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 11/01/2021 01:42

Apologising for not posting - my god Grin

steff13 · 11/01/2021 05:48

If people are swimming for health reasons, they may be posting on social media for accountability. I have a friend who does that. I never comment, I just scroll on past.

FunkBus · 11/01/2021 06:03

This is surely the point of social media though, isn't it? There are tons of ways of avoiding seeing it - come off social media, unfriend that person, facebook has lots of options for ignoring certain people for a month or ignoring posts from certain sites. If you're seeing it, it's your own fault.

An ex-colleague of mine posts the dinners she makes every day. I don't care so I just hid her from my feed. That way I can still keep in touch with her in the future, but I don't need to see her plate of lasagne.

These days, I basically just check my fb once a day, never post, and just use it for messenger or local events. I realised recently that the majority of people I know are actually hidden because sm is inane.

MinnieMountain · 11/01/2021 06:04

Lucky buggers. I miss swimming but we’re way too far from the sea.

FunkBus · 11/01/2021 06:09

"I think that about everything people post on sm about themselves though."

Why do you use it then?
