In Zombie films if a Zombie bites you, you become one, but what about the people who Zombies devour? Surely they can't become a Zombie with missing limbs, how would they chase anyone if they had no legs?

LegendDairy · 09/01/2021 00:18

Zombies don't eat people entirely they just want a bite to turn you into a zombie and a zombie isn't dead till you hit it in the head so they'll just crawl after you leaving the legs behind.

You got red on you.

Poorpigletsrevenge · 09/01/2021 00:19

You’ve blown my mind. I’m going to have to spend some serious time thinking about this.

Poorpigletsrevenge · 09/01/2021 00:21

@LegendDairy but Zombies eat brains. So why don’t most zombies have their heads missing?

Cocolapew · 09/01/2021 00:21

In Zombieland they were eating guts etc, do they still become Zombies with bits missing then? Nobody just dies after a Zombie attack?

“Surely they can't become a Zombie with missing limbs, how would they chase anyone if they had no legs?“

They drag themselves about with the other limbs...

RJnomore1 · 09/01/2021 00:21

There’s been a great deal of thought given to this on mn in the past.

I learned I don’t need to run fast just faster than the person next to me.

And you need an OFRS..(oh fuck ruck sack)

Only in Return of the Living Dead.

Cocolapew · 09/01/2021 00:23

And why are they such shit runners, apart from the ones in World War Z. Is there a hierarchy of Zombies?

That's why I thought I'd ask the experts Grin

What about if they lost all their limbs?

OP posts:
ImagineWords · 09/01/2021 00:29

The ones who have had their guts eaten are usually the ones you find half dead on the floor/front of a car. Weak but still have bite left in them, a double tap should suffice. Arms or legs missing they either stay put or scurry along. Any damage towards the brain whatsoever causes instant death as the brain controls the spinal cord and nervous system ect... My question is why do they feel hungry when they are dead ?😶

Mypathtriedtokillme · 09/01/2021 00:31

Dh banned me from watching walking dead with him when I pointed out that the Zombie apocalypse would be over in about a fortnight after the maggots set in.
Considering maggots can eat 60% of a human body in a week.
But the resulting fly plague would be revolting!!

pelosi · 09/01/2021 00:33

but Zombies eat brains. So why don’t most zombies have their heads missing?

Well zombies are people who died but their brains are still intact. So if the brain has been eaten, the zombie can't reignite.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 09/01/2021 00:34

Depending on the size of the zombie pack I would of thought for a while they would just be trying to infect other people (since it’s a virus and all viruses want is to replicate)

Once the pack got to a undetermined size they would be eat rather than infect.

AwkwardPaws27 · 09/01/2021 00:34

Because to kill a zombie, you need to remove the head or destroy the brain. Anyone who's brain becomes a meal won't become a zombie, as the virus crosses the blood-brain barrier and infects the white matter.
You only become a zombie if you get nibbled but your brain remains intact.

They chase very slowly. Dragging themselves along
Sn0tnose · 09/01/2021 00:36

I’ve thought this for years but anyone I’ve ever mentioned it to has acted like I’m a nutcase!

You never see a zombie film where one shuffles past because it’s not hungry; they always try and eat people. So why would they only eat enough to turn them, leaving enough for a new zombie?

Mypathtriedtokillme · 09/01/2021 00:37

They wait in dark corners or in the loo to ambush and eat you at the least expected time?
tabulahrasa · 09/01/2021 00:37

@Cocolapew

What about if they lost all their limbs?
They just kind of wriggle about
Cocolapew · 09/01/2021 00:37

Oh so all the running around is to infect as many people as possible?
What happens when there's no one left to infect?
I'm really glad i didn't bother watching the Walking Dead, who knew Zombies were so complicated?

I’ve just started watching, I’m on season 8 and it’s still irking me. Those bodies would be fully decomposed!
NoSensei · 09/01/2021 00:40

@Cocolapew in TWD sometimes the zombies are just heads chomping away waiting for a victim Grin

Deadringer · 09/01/2021 00:41

I always wonder how they move around when their muscles are wasted, how they see, smell and hear living creatures when signals are no longer sent to their dead brains, and why their teeth don't fall out when their gums recede, rendering them harmless.

ImagineWords · 09/01/2021 00:42

Do they ever eat animals?

Mypathtriedtokillme · 09/01/2021 00:44

Yeah it’s set in Georgia.
A revoltingly humid hot place is summer.
It would just be maggot city.

Also if they are eating they would be shitting themselves.
How can you get snuck up on by something that’s literally a bag of walking rot, stinking and leaving a trail if shit behind it??
