Much better than Hinch grey!

I hate all white AND grey decorating. Colours all the way for me!

Lockheart · 02/01/2021 15:34

You can like whatever decor you like surely? Unreasonable doesn't come into it.

MiddlesexGirl · 02/01/2021 15:34

I'm with @Butchyrestingface !

DramaAlpaca · 02/01/2021 15:35

I like both white and grey!

1Morewineplease · 02/01/2021 15:38

I find all white a little too stark for my liking but each to their own.

Magicbabywaves · 02/01/2021 15:39

Well it’s not to my taste, surely you’d feel like you were constantly in a mid 90s pop video/Scandinavian art bar/just woken up from a RTA and you were in heaven.

But I like colour.

speakout · 02/01/2021 15:39

I love it too OP- very Scandic.

I moved into an all white house, thought it was too stark at first, but after a few months I grew to love it.

byebyeboyee · 02/01/2021 15:53

I have Irene snow and dyslexia I cannot stand white interiors it makes my eyes go crazy, I see dots, after images and get horrible headache's.

Me too. Same goes for bedding, clothes and plates!
StillCoughingandLaughing · 02/01/2021 15:59

People are queuing up at the moment to say how much they hate grey decor. Being desperate to prove you don’t follow trends has become a trend in itself.

TheCantankerousMare · 02/01/2021 16:44

Most of my house is white with accent colours, but then one side of my family are Norwegian. It is a Scandi thing (that or pine clad walls!) but I like the most that is is easy to change a room by changing the accent colour without having to decorate a whole space.

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 02/01/2021 16:51

How can you be unreasonable to have a preference on what colours you prefer on your walls? Confused

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 02/01/2021 17:02

I love white - just because its so easy to change the way your room can look just by changing the decor colour scheme without having to redecorate. I love how fresh and clean it looks too.
But every one has different tastes, its also very trendy atm to say you hate white and grey Wink

DappledThings · 02/01/2021 17:06

I must have been ahead of my time then. I've been decorating rooms for 14 years in places I've owned and another 10 in rented where I sometimes had some leeway and always thought all white was stark, depressing and pointless.

Love a bit of grey, I still have one bedroom with 3 walls grey but I wouldn't have more than one room the same colour.

LockdownLilly · 02/01/2021 17:08

My friend aspires to a Scandi look. I like her home, she works very hard on it but her style is not a unique creative act, it's just shopping.
There's nothing wrong with that, home is home but I hate being asked to like the blue stripe cushion against the white sofa, with the white candle burning, the grubby oatmeal carpet undermines your Instagram perfection.

NiceGerbil · 02/01/2021 17:09

I like colour

TornadoOfSouls · 02/01/2021 17:10

I’m not crazy about bright white but it depends on the space. An off white that looks white is good over a large area (eg F&B Wimborne White). I like grey, but not everywhere! I initially thought Mrs Hinch did her photos in greyscale or something. Far too cold and battleship-looking.

In Ideal Home magazine people always say they like white because they can add colour with accessories etc - often these rooms are very boring, I think you need a bit of colour sense or a Scandi/minimalist style to really pull it off well.

switswoo81 · 02/01/2021 17:16

I think white walls are a great backdrop to large colourful pieces of art or really interesting textures and fabric patterns.
Anything is better than hinch grey.

PersonaNonGarter · 02/01/2021 17:19

Grey is awful. I am relieved it is going out of style

AndcalloffChristmas · 02/01/2021 17:20

It’s a matter of personal taste! I like all or mostly white in the bedroom for instance but wouldn’t want it for my sitting room.

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 02/01/2021 20:38

Surely if you don’t like it then you don’t have any in your house though? Confused

This.
MrsPernicious · 02/01/2021 20:42

I always think white rooms look like the inside of cupboards, especially small rooms.
I mainly keep this thought to myself.

Bluntness100 · 02/01/2021 20:46

I’m not really a fan, I find it quite cold. But I’m not a big fan of all grey either or anything too colourful.

I tend to prefer softer warmers colours. Just now I have a lot of shades of green, from pale eau de nil, to sage green, to F&L french grey (which is green grey) and even F&L pigeon, and a load of different greens in between. But everyone has their own tastes.

Robbybobtail · 02/01/2021 20:48

White rooms look best when the accessories have colour. You need texture also so plenty of cushions, rugs and throws etc. to keep things warm. All white is too much for me but I love an off-white backdrop as you can then change accessories around. Strong white by f&b is lovely as it’s slightly warm, not stark. I would never paint everywhere in brilliant white, for instance.
