Peeing in the water..... Aibu

Partner (male) thinks EVERYONE knows it's not ok to pee in the water. That it makes a horrible drum roll noise and no one wants to hear that. Having been married before I know not everyone feels this way... Not why I divorced him BTW Grin
Wondering what's the 'norm'....
Not just weird curiosity BTW, trying to settle a difference of opinion between father and son.... In a light hearted way obviously.

Is he being unreasonable to think peeing in the water is NOT ok? Let's have your votes ladies Wink

Erm, what? Peeing in what water?

inmyshoos · 02/01/2021 12:19

What are you on about?

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 12:20

Do you mean pissing directly into the toilet water? I wouldn't but then I'm weirdly prudish about stuff like that

MountDoom · 02/01/2021 12:21

Where does he think people should wee? In the sink, in the garden?

Batteredoldchesterfield · 02/01/2021 12:21

Does he mean you should put paper in first to dull the sound? 🤣

CrotchBurn · 02/01/2021 12:22

@Batteredoldchesterfield
I think they mean allowing the piss to hit the bowl and trickle down the sides

QuestionableMouse · 02/01/2021 12:22

What people do on the loo is their business. As long as everything is left clean and tidy I honestly don't care how they pee!

Dontstepinthecowpat · 02/01/2021 12:23

What? Where do you pee?

CaptainMyCaptain · 02/01/2021 12:23

I thought you were talking about swimming pools, in which case definitely not acceptable. In the toilet, obviously, it's completely normal.
MountDoom · 02/01/2021 12:23

I don't think us ladies have the ability to aim our wee to hit the side of the toilet bowl. If your husband is that prudish that he blushes when wee hits water, well I'm not really sure what to say about that!

toomanyplants · 02/01/2021 12:23

My OH and adult DS both sound like a pair of camels when they go.
Can't say it bothers me, as long as their aim is good that's fine!

minipie · 02/01/2021 12:24

If it makes a horrible sound surely the solution is to shut the door so nobody hears??

inmyshoos · 02/01/2021 12:24

Yes peeing on the bowl rather than in the water....
It's the noise. In small house. Partner thinks no one needs to hear that. Clearly unusually polite as I thought Grin

MN never fails to deliver on the weirdest of topics! This has never crossed my mind before now!

DuzzyFuck · 02/01/2021 12:26

My DP was brought up by his Dad with the firm belief that it's impolite and ungentlemanly to aim straight into the water and make a racket, so shoots for the side. Can't say it bothers me either way, and I don't think Women have as much of a choice in the matter anyway Confused

EarringsandLipstick · 02/01/2021 12:27

Your house would want to be very small for this to be an issue; or else you are listening to each other's toilet visits with one ear to the door 🤦🏻‍♀️

CatVsChristmasTree · 02/01/2021 12:27

I'd worry that peeing on the bowl would splash more. I may be wrong...

Loubylou9162 · 02/01/2021 12:30

The only time I avoid peeing directly into the water is if it’s the middle of the night and I don’t want to wake DD As her bedroom is right by the bathroom and she’s easily woken other than that I don’t care and as long as the pew goes into the actual toilet and not all over the floor who cares

cyclingmad · 02/01/2021 12:31

Noise travels esp in my house unfortunately so yeah you would hearing someone peeing if your in the room next to the bathroom.

In my downstairs toilet which backs partly onto neighbours lounge if your using it you can hear them chatting if they are in their lounge, not word for word but the odd word

So I take it if I can hear them they'll hear me so I put loo roll in now first so it dampens any noise

sproutburger · 02/01/2021 12:31

I asked DH to sit down when he goes to wee in the middle of the night and stop waking me up with his Niagra Falls racket.

Jeez with the reaction I got you'd have thought I'd asked him to chop his willy off or something!

Can you get your partner to have a chat with mine pls Grin

Bookriddle · 02/01/2021 12:33

As a bloke, i just prefer to piss on the toilet seat! Grin

Pee in the water. If you pee in the bowl it’s more likely to splash around everywhere. That isn’t polite.

unicornparty · 02/01/2021 12:46

We all pee onto the bowl. The water makes so much noise.
