Peeing in the water..... Aibu

Partner (male) thinks EVERYONE knows it's not ok to pee in the water. That it makes a horrible drum roll noise and no one wants to hear that. Having been married before I know not everyone feels this way... Not why I divorced him BTW Grin
Wondering what's the 'norm'....
Not just weird curiosity BTW, trying to settle a difference of opinion between father and son.... In a light hearted way obviously.

Is he being unreasonable to think peeing in the water is NOT ok? Let's have your votes ladies Wink

@unicornparty

We all pee onto the bowl. The water makes so much noise.
I have no idea where anyone in my family aims their wee. How is this even an issue. Doesn't everyone else just sit and wee?
RolandSchitt · 02/01/2021 12:54

I literally couldn't care less, as long as it's in the bowl and not on the seat Envy (not envy).

IsolaPribby · 02/01/2021 12:56

Where does he stand on no. 2's?

user1495884620 · 02/01/2021 12:57

@IsolaPribby

Where does he stand on no. 2's?
One would hope that he sits!!!
LoveMyKidsAndCats · 02/01/2021 13:04

I thought you must have meant in the bath / pool / sea. But toilet? You are asking if its wrong to wee in the toilet?

Chanjer · 02/01/2021 13:06

The ideal place is where the water meets the bowl, minimal noise and splashback.

Going straight on the bowl sprays it everywhere, going straight in the water makes noise but also can splash a lot

GreyHare · 02/01/2021 13:09

Do you not have an extractor fan, ours is so noisy it covers most bathroom noises, I live in a teeny tiny house and this has never even crossed my mind to be an issue.

DdraigGoch · 02/01/2021 13:10

I'm glad to see that I wasn't the only one who thought that this was about swimming pools!

IsolaPribby · 02/01/2021 13:12

But surely poos make more noise?

Bookriddle · 02/01/2021 13:14

@IsolaPribby

Where does he stand on no. 2's?
Hopefully he sits, but at my old work place we had to have signs saying dont squat on the toilet seat, someone obviously did and shat all over the toilet
Paul72 · 02/01/2021 13:14

@sproutburger

I asked DH to sit down when he goes to wee in the middle of the night and stop waking me up with his Niagra Falls racket.

Jeez with the reaction I got you'd have thought I'd asked him to chop his willy off or something!

Can you get your partner to have a chat with mine pls Grin

I sit down to pee at night as it is far easier when half asleep and means I never leave the seat up
Purplecatshopaholic · 02/01/2021 13:17

It’s threads like this that make me love MN! Bonkers

sparklefarts · 02/01/2021 13:35

Mind blown that anyone even considers this

OTannenbaum · 02/01/2021 13:38

I’ve heard men say this before, I think there is a general understanding that this the unspoken code of how to pee politely in men’s loos. But it wouldn’t bother me one way or the other in our own home 😂 Everybody pees!

makingmammaries · 02/01/2021 13:39

How come nobody has mentioned hot tubs yet?

greyfatandold · 02/01/2021 13:41

@toomanyplants

My OH and adult DS both sound like a pair of camels when they go. Can't say it bothers me, as long as their aim is good that's fine!

GrinGrinGrinGrin

Staffy1 · 02/01/2021 13:54

I would rather they aimed for the middle, which would be the water, rather than miss the whole toilet, or hole, altogether, which seems to happen far too often.

littlepattilou · 02/01/2021 13:55
Confused
AndcalloffChristmas · 02/01/2021 13:58

That’s nuts! I don’t think women can direct our wee, but I think the best place to wee is straight into the water - much more hygienic than having wee trickling down the toilet bowl.

I wish Ds could pee into the water or if this was the bigger worry- his always seems to go onto the back of the toilet bowl, ie outside the actual bowl!

Sickofthiscrapp · 02/01/2021 13:58

Our house is newish, small 3 beds and I hate that peeing sound.
It is SO loud.
Our toilets are upstairs only.
When you are downstairs you can hear it as very loud.
Also if someone goes for poo we can hear it downstairs as the poo hits the water making that deep splashing sound- and gets really loud downstairs.
I always now put tissue first so it’s not so hear able.
It’s actually very embarrassing.

AndcalloffChristmas · 02/01/2021 14:00

I thought you meant in the bath too!

littlepattilou · 02/01/2021 14:00

@inmyshoos Where the F else does your DH suggest everyone pees then? Of course it's going to be in the water in the toilet.

This is an odd thread. Your title says nothing about it being in the toilet bowl. Bit like when someone posted a thread with the title 'my DH has shit on the floor.' Then when you read the OP, it turned out he has got shit on the floor, because he got it on his shoe from the outside. It was a click-bait thread. Bit like this one. Wink

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 02/01/2021 14:01

I'm told that if you put one foot on the rim of the toilet bowl and wee along your thigh it can be virtually silent.
(Apparently it is best to remove your trousers first.)

melissasummerfield · 02/01/2021 14:04

Your DH is trying to control how you urinate WTAF Shock

LindaEllen · 02/01/2021 14:04

It's never crossed my mind - and I mean never - to be annoyed at the sound of pissing. Or even pooing. We all do it. There's no getting around it, it needs to be done.
