Peeing in the water..... Aibu

Partner (male) thinks EVERYONE knows it's not ok to pee in the water. That it makes a horrible drum roll noise and no one wants to hear that. Having been married before I know not everyone feels this way... Not why I divorced him BTW Grin
Wondering what's the 'norm'....
Not just weird curiosity BTW, trying to settle a difference of opinion between father and son.... In a light hearted way obviously.

Is he being unreasonable to think peeing in the water is NOT ok? Let's have your votes ladies Wink

Has your DH never encountered an American toilet? Almost all water

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 02/01/2021 14:12

LTB obviously - he expects to be allowed to use the toilet ?! 🤣

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/01/2021 14:12

Could you get your DH to have a word with my neighbour? Practically the only thing I can hear from their house is him peeing like a horse.

It doesn't actually bother me. It's just wee.

I've known men who aim for just above the waterline & others who have tried to make as much noise as possible.

Frankly neither impressed me, as long as it's IN the toilet not ON the toilet/floor etc

I hate that sound with a passion.
I think the polite way to pee for men and women is to aim so you hit the bowl first not straight into the water.
I would say something to a partner who did not do this - my bedroom is right next to the bathroom - I don't need to hear this when I'm trying to sleep xxx

The P is silent - as in "bath".......

Denny53 · 02/01/2021 14:33

@unicornparty

We all pee onto the bowl. The water makes so much noise.
I’ve got a husband and 3 now grown up sons. No idea how, where or when any of them pee in the toilet. As long as no mess is left who cares? Why is it an issue?

Good advice when pointing Percy at the porcelain :-
"our aim is to keep this place clean. Your aim can help"

I get how a man can aim, but how the hell does a woman do it?

Can't say I find such a noise bothersome but I suppose everybody has their opinions and eccentricities. So long as they are not pushing it on others, leave them be. If they are inflicting their preferences on others, a quick "I do not agree" and then ignore.

In a flat we used to live in, we had an upstairs neighbour who used to make the sound you speak of. It was so loud, it not only sounded like he must have been in possession of a prostate like a steel trap with all the elastic properties of one of those little super rubber balls from the 1980's but that he was atop a step ladder while he let fly with the piddle. The first time I heard it, I thought the hot water tank had suddenly broken as the tank was in a cupboard next to the toilet. We both have a quite juvenile sense of humour at times so it used to make us laugh really, we used to refer to him as, dun dun dun, "The Phantom Piddler of Old London Town", followed by a phhshing sound.

@RichardMarxisinnocent leaning forward or backward seems to impact aim. So I'm told.

Just be glad he doesn't suggest commandeering the sink as a urinal - with its superior multi-temperature, user-determined-length flushing system.
