Obviously the majority are stuck in tonight..going for walk and hot chocolate at sunset with toddler Dd and then will either get takeaway or cook a treat meal..any ideas how to make it at least not just another day? What are you eating/doing?

Just how to make tonight a little more special, even though we’ll all be in bed asleep before midnight 😂🎈

Ordered takeaway from our favourite restaurant. Playing board games and getting tiddly.

Whatnext2018 · 31/12/2020 11:29

Nice 🎈

Party games!
Hats, blowers, party poppers, were all dressing up a bit too just to make it feel a bit special. Doing a buffet with all our favourites on it. Not much more we can do really.

ThatBitch · 31/12/2020 11:31

We're having 'party food' - buffet style with all the bits we like. Few drinks with friends around the world via zoom. Dc are having a 'sleepover' in the same room as each other and allowed to stay up late. We're also getting dressed up as if going out. Anything to break the repetitious boredom!

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 31/12/2020 11:33

We are having steak. I'll do some sides (Mac n cheese, a rocket and parmesan salad, onion rings etc). We have champagne.

And we will both be asleep before midnight Grin

SoDiorDarling · 31/12/2020 11:37

I think we're going to go Mexican Grin

superram · 31/12/2020 11:38

Raclette and tartiflette we were meant to be skiing..... also online cocktails with friends (made up and delivered in advance).

Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 31/12/2020 11:41

Antipasti and champagne. DC’s are insisting on dressing up too.

Zoinksalot · 31/12/2020 11:42

An obscene amount of alcohol has been purchased to drink between 4 adults (myself included)

So um... we will be gorging on carby bready party food and then getting absolutely sloshed.

LagneyandCasey · 31/12/2020 11:45

I'm cooking a ham today. We'll have it with macaroni cheese made from all the left over cheeses so it'll be a unique one.
Dd will make us stay up until midnight whether we like it or not. We usually watch the fireworks in London but they're cancelled so I'm not sure what will be on instead.
I can't wait for the 'festivities' to be over tbh.

Mypathtriedtokillme · 31/12/2020 11:50

I was going to have a nice steak and salad but we have no gas, no stove, so no steak.

Water heater died earlier in the day but just thought it was typical 2020, it was also 17 years old so we got a new one to be installed tomorrow.

Dailyhandtowelwash · 31/12/2020 11:53

We’re drinking champagne and have ordered a meal from a local posh restaurant that we’ll need to finish off (hopefully with instructions!). Then Zoom quiz with our usual NYE companions.

WhatTiggersDoBest · 31/12/2020 11:58

We will be pushing the boat out and probably watching "Nonstop Wheels on the Bus" on Amazon Prime while eating party sausage rolls from Lidl and drinking tea. Grin

Turnedouttoes · 31/12/2020 12:02

We’ve got a pandoro which I’ll decorate with strawberries and raspberries and I’m trying to persuade DP to pick up some of those sparkler candles on his way home from work to stick on the top.
DP also received a ridiculous amount of champagne as Christmas presents from clients so we might crack open the Moet tonight instead of one of the more basic bottles we’ve become rather accustomed to Blush

We’ll also make an effort to dress up (to eat our M&S party food) to make it feel a bit more like an occasion.

Turnedouttoes · 31/12/2020 12:04

@Mypathtriedtokillme I really feel for you! Our gas meter died yesterday which cut our gas supply so we had no hot water, heating or cooker. I’ll give credit to Bulb that they had someone out to fix it within 3 hours after I spoke to their online chat

runwithme · 31/12/2020 12:06

I've already got my sequins on, even though I'm wfh! DC have said they aren't dressing up but DH claims he will. We will see. We've got some games, will order a takeaway and then watch a movie. A few drinks will flow but it will be tame, like most.

geekone · 31/12/2020 12:17

Hogmanay is very clear in my DS who is 10’s head. Party food, bad Scottish telly and then the bells and bed.

Tomorrow on the first it would be steak pie in Scotland normally, but I have ordered a curry 😋

earthyfire · 31/12/2020 12:17

Putting on fluffy PJs and watching Jools...about as exciting as it gets. I can't really be bothered tbh. It was my birthday yesterday, had a takeaway so don't want another takeaway tonight.

hansgrueber · 31/12/2020 12:18

At the moment, in pj's, Swayze on the TV, Osman on my lap, and a bacon butty, does it get better??

AliasGrape · 31/12/2020 12:24

We usually do party food but I bought a shit load for Christmas Eve and we’ve been living off it ever since really so I can’t face it again.

We’re going to a light trail around 5 just us and the baby (who will no doubt sleep through the entire thing). DH is planning the roast to end all roasts for tomorrow apparently - so for the sake of ease we’re just going to have some pizza and salad tonight. BUT I’ll put the fancy table cloth on and we will light the candles and use up the Christmas crackers. We will play some music and have a glass or two of fizz. I’m normally in bed about 8 with the baby but I might make a supreme effort and stay up tonight - till 9 say Grin

caperplips · 31/12/2020 12:28

We're having homemade burgers cooked on the bbq. We have champagne & wine & beer + plenty of cocktail making stuff so we'll see how the mood takes us
Tomorrow we have fillet steak, potato gratin & rocket & parmesan salad
We'll probably tune into Jools Holland like most years

Turnedouttoes · 31/12/2020 12:37

Oohhh I’ve just had my Dishoom bacon naan kit delivered. I’d totally forgotten about that! That’ll be breakfast for tomorrow then Grin

Brighterthansunflowers · 31/12/2020 12:41

I’m on my own but have preordered a takeaway for this evening. I expect all the takeaways will be super busy tonight with everyone stuck at home.

LouLou789 · 31/12/2020 12:42

I am really impressed by the efforts you are all making. So far, the extent of our plans are clean PJs and extra beer in the fridge! We will do Jays Virtual Pub Quiz (as we do every Thursday) and probably go out to say a very socially distanced “Cheers” to our neighbours on our respective driveways just before midnight. Ooh, and we have Twiglets...
