Obviously the majority are stuck in tonight..going for walk and hot chocolate at sunset with toddler Dd and then will either get takeaway or cook a treat meal..any ideas how to make it at least not just another day? What are you eating/doing?

@VeganVeal you joker!

We are playing games- hopefully turning the house into an escape room thing. And having cocktails with the kids (mocktails) and then a 3 course meal-
Prawn cocktail
Fillet steak
Profiteroles
I’m feeling so 80s! And then a kitchen disco and midnight in the hot tub with champagne.

Daughter and her primary school aged children are staying over. The children will be in bed by 7.30.

I am cooking prawn cocktail with avocado, salmon with leeks, dill and mascarpone, followed by a M and S Black Forest Buche. A bit retro, but I'm looking forward to it.

It's highly unlikely that I will still be up when midnight comes. We've been looking after the grandchildren for 3 straight days and I'm exhausted. I'm guessing there will be no fireworks around the World and it's been a weird year, so I'm not bothered about seeing a new one in.

I would like to watch the celebrity Great British Sewing Bee, but that may have to wait till tomorrow on catch up.

It's a traditional Russian NYE here, so we're eating about 5 different salads covered in mayo while Skyping DH's rellies and watching a 70's comedy about drunk shenanigans in St. Petersburg called The Irony of Fate. And drinking. And DH needs to assemble a bicycle at some point.

So impressed by all this!!

We were going to have something treaty from the fishmonger except DH couldn’t be bothered to queue Hmm and the local nice takeaways are either shut or now booked out already, so we will be having whatever’s in the fridge that needs eating or can be rustled up from the freezer.

I made sausage rolls for lunch so guess that counts as party food Grin we have a few blinis and smoked salmon left over so will have those with champagne later. Maybe elderflower for the kids, I wonder if I can find plastic champagne flutes.

DC can’t stay up late as they always wake super early, so would be awful tomorrow if they have a late night... but I may steal the “sleepover” idea above, they would love that. Maybe a New Years Day special breakfast since they won’t have stayed up.

Can you tell I’m thinking as I go here Grin

Teenager will prob be in her room WhatsApp ING her mate.
Mr on xbox
Me, well I may sit out looking at the fire pit drinking Mr's grand marnier till I pass out.
Food wise probably cheese n pare platter. Not sure, I'm rarely hungry anymore.

We’re doing buffet party food (mini pizza’s, sliders, tortillas with loads of different dips, sausage rolls, tapas and salad) with the dc and then having a karaoke disco party. I’m also making them virgin strawberry daiquiris (alcoholic for dh & I). We’re then doing some sparklers outside and having s’mores on the fire. After they’re asleep, dh and I will be getting our drink on, although I’ll probably pass out on the sofa before midnight 😂

Mirrorxx · 31/12/2020 14:47

@Turnedouttoes we had the vegan sausage one today. Delicious

CorvusPurpureus · 31/12/2020 14:54

Just me this year (dc with their dad), so salmon & veg tray bake curry, followed by much wine & Netflix by the pool 🎉

FTM91 · 31/12/2020 14:55

We are splashing out on a big platter of sushi and champagne Grin

Ultimateblends · 31/12/2020 15:07

We have glow in the dark silly string to have a war with DC

I'm having cheese and dippy bread, red wine already cracked open.

Likely a bath and film once DC is in bed, we are doing Xmas #2 tommorow as DC was with father on the actual day- so tommorow festivities in full swing.

I'm knackered already!

LokihasafryingPan · 31/12/2020 15:34

It's my birthday today and dp is working until 6ish so it's just me and DD2. So were having basically a very exclusive kids party - buffet, ice cream, games and ben and holly (its far too icy to go for a walk unfortunately)
Then when shes asleep and dp is home we have cheese board and a nicer little buffet type thing with those fish in a shell things.
I'm looking forward to it, more than my usual dp cooked mish mash of weirdness that somehow took all day and a lot of swearing to cook! HmmGrin
