Obviously the majority are stuck in tonight..going for walk and hot chocolate at sunset with toddler Dd and then will either get takeaway or cook a treat meal..any ideas how to make it at least not just another day? What are you eating/doing?

We're having:

Korean Bbq chicken wings
West African beef rib stew with fried rice and black eye bean hummus (William Twitty recipes)
Shop bought pudding (espresso torte or sticky toffee)

Watching Paddington 2.

hammeringinmyhead · 31/12/2020 12:52

M&S curry and new PJs for me! We don't exactly party hard anyway as this is our 3rd with a baby/toddler.

PollyannaWhittier · 31/12/2020 12:52

I wanted fondue (x3 - oil, cheese and chocolate) but I got outvoted and apparently we're having pasta bake - boring !
We've been for a walk and just watched Auckland's fireworks online. We'll probably watch a film this afternoon and go to bed normal time.

Whatnext2018 · 31/12/2020 12:56

Loving all these 🎈

Found out our pizza takeaway place is shut, on Nye 🤷🏻‍♀️
Might go for cooking fillet steak & chips, with a shop bought dessert with sparklers in for Dd

We went to m and s and got lots of picnic type foods, although as an avid aldi shopper i was gobsmacked at the prices! Luckily i had a 70 gift voucher and there was lots of stuff reduced. Who pays £4.50 for a quiche! Reduced to £1.66. We also got some posh pizzas, a trifle and chocolate yule log cake - reduced of course!

BakedTattie · 31/12/2020 13:01

I’m making a starter (gazpacho and a shellfish platter) and my husband is making a duck Ragu with pappardelle. Gooey melt in middle chocolate pudding for dessert then cheese board later.

Along with copious amounts of champagne

ChronicallyCurious · 31/12/2020 13:04

We wanted to get takeaway but usually waits are horrific where we are and often get cancelled last minute so we got it last night instead 😂 Tonight we’ll have some snack you party foods, cheese and crackers and chocolates/crisps

thebakeoffwasntasgoodthisyear · 31/12/2020 13:06

Crispy aromatic duck, pancakes and hoisin sauce - it’s our favourite treat and luckily we live close to a fab Asian supermarket

VeganVeal · 31/12/2020 13:14

We're having the family and neighbours round for a good old booze up, cant wait

pinkgin85 · 31/12/2020 13:19

Prosecco and Chinese takeaway Wine

LajesticVantrashell · 31/12/2020 13:21

Ordered a nice take out from local restaurant. Then having doorstep champagne with our neighbours. Might attempt some Hootenanny but will most likely be in bed by 10pm.

slalomsuki · 31/12/2020 13:21

We have dug out the fondue set to go with a cheese fondue. Bought cooked meats and potatoes and have loads of cheese and bread. Looking forward to it now and may have to start early.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 31/12/2020 13:29

The teenagers and I have duck and pancakes to munch, as well as ribs if we're still peckish. I will have wine, they will have Shirley Temples and we will watch Monty Python all night

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 31/12/2020 13:30

DH has to work, hence getting away with a Python-fest!!

SchrodingersImmigrant · 31/12/2020 13:32

If you have restaurants around, check out if they deliver. Most had food ready for tonight and all had been cancelled so it's good way to help them mitigate the losses a bit. I saw most our restaurants offer deliveries tonight with amazing looking platters and food

omg35 · 31/12/2020 13:32

I'm doing party food- just Tesco cheapie stuff- pigs in blankets, mini Indian snacks etc

Barmyfarmy · 31/12/2020 13:42

We're doing picky bits-
Cheese board with grapes
chutneys and pickles
sausage rolls, nuggets, spring rolls, mini pizzas (We say it's for the kids but I love a nugget and I'm not ashamed)
baguette with butter
quiche
carrot and cuke sticks with sweet chili hummus
and about a million bowls full of biscuits, celebrations and brownie bites Grin

CuriousaboutSamphire · 31/12/2020 13:51

Just the 2 of us so we have decided to do leftover picnic food.

Sausage meat / stuffing has been rolled in the ends of puff pastry

Found some meatballs in the freezer so they will be albondigas / tapas shortly.

There's still some ham left too.

Cherry sauce from the duck has been thickened and put in the fridge alongside the cranberry and orange sauce (that's also made from leftovers from the stuffing balls).

Ends of cheese, biscuits, grapes, satsumas and the posh (bought from M+S using a voucher) nuts and dates to go with the posh cheese, Mimolette.

I've got half a packet of cooked chestnuts to find a home for, might save them til next week.

And a bottle of prosecco that didn't get drunk last year!

It will last us all day around playing cards, taking the dog for a walk etc.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 31/12/2020 13:55

Ooh! I found 2 rashers of bacon, so a few pigs in blankets too... if we can find the sausages.

FolkyFoxFace · 31/12/2020 13:56

We're having a buffet - homemade dips and breads, and plenty of the Christmas cheese! I'm very pregnant so DH is also not on the booze, but we've got some nice non alcoholic wine and fizz in, plus stuff for cocktails. We'll probably play a boardgame, have a dance around, and Jools will definitely feature (although I haven't checked who's on this year).

I'm trying to choose between fresh PJ's or dressing up in a nice frock. DH doesn't mind either way!

FolkyFoxFace · 31/12/2020 13:59

Tomorrow is the fancy meal for us - DH got us a lovely side of salmon from the fishmongers yesterday, so he's serving it up with hassleback spuds with dill and chive butter, asparagus, and a champagne sauce! Can't wait!

FunnysInLaJardin · 31/12/2020 13:59

Homemade ramen noodles and prawn crackers tonight, a game of trivial pursuit with the kids and some nice wine and champagne.

Tomorrow homemade chicken souvlaki and pita breads. Possibly on the BBQ if its dry

sundowners · 31/12/2020 14:01

We (just me and DH- when kids in bed) are doing a raclette. Nothing more yummy or festive than a raclette!

NotExactlyMrsCurrentAffairs · 31/12/2020 14:03

We're going to do the same as we did last nye, just the 4 of us, me, dh and 2dc. Party food, snacks, cheese board. Karaoke and bingo, download a bingo caller app, have wrapped up chocolate/novelty bingo prizes. Bought some party poppers for midnight.

AriesTheRam · 31/12/2020 14:04
