We are in tier 4 . I live beside a shared piece of grass . Neighbours are currently having a birthday bbq with 15 people , including 3 other households from our street , one from the next town . Help me calm down and put it in perspective .

@Fieldofyellowflowers

It's not OK, OP. And so many people were so quick to make excuses for these people, saying "Oh it's such a shame that kids can't have a bday party these days" without knowing if the party even was for a child. HmmAnd it's people like these partiers and the people who make excuses for them that are the reason why we are in this mess.

I understand the anger. A friend of mine works so hard for our local food bank and organised food and toy donations for christmas hampers to ensure that struggling families could have a nice xmas. Due to a selfish person travelling to our small country town from a tier 4 area and causing a local spike, she had covid by xmas day. She is now in hospital.

that's awful

A friend of ours says that all the stupid people are meeting up and they will all get ill and then they'll be the ones dieing.....there's a bit of truth in that I suppose.

I think an adult should be able to cope with not celebrating a birthday, or moving the date to a time when the risk is less, when the vaccination programme is further advanced. But never mind. As my friend says, he's one of the stupid ones who will probably die.

(Not a very close friend btw.)

luckylavender · 29/12/2020 15:33

@stackemhigh - telling us how to react. That's the mantra I attribute to teachers (from when I was at school) & a David Brentesque boss I once had. Oh & maybe an Athena poster, since you ask.

Laughnaff · 29/12/2020 15:33

It makes me so angry too, people aren’t bothered. I watched my neighbours son and two friends have a sleepover the past 3 nights, then they had a hot tub party yesterday. This is why it’s fucking spreading.

Laughnaff · 29/12/2020 15:34

Phone the police

True, but they are also the ones going to the supermarket and passing it to those who have been cautious.

QueenArseClangers · 29/12/2020 15:44

Can your hosepipe reach them? Arseholes like them are the reason my dear friend has died.

wizzbangfizz · 29/12/2020 16:07

They must be bastard freezing.

PenguinIce · 29/12/2020 16:11

I get it’s annoying but to be honest I am starting to understand why so many have given up with the rules. We can all cancel meeting others as much as we like but as long as it is still ok for people to go skiing abroad or on ‘work’ trips to Dubai what is the bloody point 🤷‍♀️. I have missed so much in the last year following the rules and the only thing it has achieved is me becoming an increasingly bitter person.

How on EARTH have you managed to narrow a spike in your town to one person!!
BrokenCircle · 29/12/2020 16:18

I’d report it.

Where have I told you how to react? And what’s with the ‘us’ business? Why are you so ‘us’ and ‘you’?

Phone the police then.
vodkaredbullgirl · 29/12/2020 16:21

Covid or no covid, I wouldn't want to be having a party outside too bloody cold.

User158340 · 29/12/2020 16:25

@Candyapple49

Thank you every one . I think I have perspective now . It’s just the injustice that was making me mad. They are sharing food and all very close . At work we are not even allowed to make a hot drink and are doing everything the keep the kids safe and Team teach each lesson alongside the real lesson . Now my friend is critically ill and has 2 young children . People seem to think in general that this is ok , so I will take that on board .
Most people on this thread have told you to report the selfish pricks.
Sup1979 · 29/12/2020 16:26

* People seem to think in general that this is ok , so I will take that on board .*

Have you actually read the responses OP? Confused

Ilovechinese · 29/12/2020 16:33

I think you should mind your own business. They are adults who are capable if making their own choice. It probably wont end well for you if you report them, they will know it was you and obviously know where you live!

janetmendoza · 29/12/2020 16:34

Police were called to people in our street and they came out and broke it up- no fines as far as I am aware. Tier 4 area. The perpetrators were very snotty about it in the street WhatsApp gp but tough luck they were completely in the wrong.

janetmendoza · 29/12/2020 16:36

Our neighbours never found out who it was. How could They? I very much doubt the reporter would give a correct name and address even if asked.

Bluetonic41 · 29/12/2020 16:48

Report the twats

Snowpatrolling · 29/12/2020 16:49

Before yesterday I’d come to the conclusion that as long as it wasn’t affecting me then they could crack on with their covid party’s.

However after facetiming my friend yesterday minutes before she was put in an induced coma and saying our goodbyes for a few days I’d say report.

I’m a community carer and the risk is really real and now to close to home. :(

Chloemol · 29/12/2020 16:59

@OverTheRainbow88

So you are happy cases are increasing because people are breaking rules? Don’t come moaning when we go into lockdown

Having seen the effect covid has had on friends, including death and Lon covid, and with vulnerable family members I am sick to death of people like you who think that this behaviour is acceptable

It’s not

OverTheRainbow88 · 29/12/2020 17:39

@Chloemol

I just think we shouldn’t judge others on their decisions.

We’ve not had any birthday gatherings etc, in fact we even chose not to mix on Christmas Day even though it was allowed/

MumW · 29/12/2020 18:52

Another who thinks it isn't ok.
I'd have reported.
