Leonidas chocolate

Dh bought me a large box of leonidas chocolates as part of my Christmas present & they are absolutely delicious!
I'm eating some now with a cup of tea & was just thinking how nice they are. I would prefer a couple of these than a huge tub of other chocolates.
We've done v well this year & resisted the temptation to buy roses or QS for the sake of tradition
Dd got tony chocolonely & Lindt in her stocking.

That’s nice.

Anycrispsleft · 28/12/2020 18:40

Ooh I remember Leonidas from when my DH lived in Brussels! Neuhaus is pretty good as well.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 28/12/2020 18:45

Was gifted huge box of Thornton's - vile and I ate them all just to check that they were all equally bad and disappointing.
Hotel Chocolat ones were good, and the Green & Blacks mini bar box.
Ages since I had Leonidas - enjoy

mynameiscalypso · 28/12/2020 18:46

In the stores, they used to be able to make you a hot chocolate with any of their chocolates. So good. They didn't seem to be doing it last time I went in one.

caperplips · 28/12/2020 18:47

@hopdathelf it was a pretty pointless post I admit! I have no idea why I even posted it Grin

Yes Leonidas is lovely. I go to the one in Chester.

Laderach chocolate is fantastic though.

Tiktaktoe · 28/12/2020 19:14

I think you might be my twin @EveryDayIsADuvetDay 😂

Fandangoes · 28/12/2020 19:15

Ooh I used to live in Belgium and lived Leonidas chocolates. There was another popular name as well but can’t remember the name! Maybe Godivas?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 28/12/2020 19:22

Grin @Tiktaktoe
I keep getting pop up ads from Montezuma - their chocolate is very good too.

Garlicinyoursoul · 28/12/2020 19:23

Ohh I don’t think I’ve ever tried them!
I bought DH some amazing hotel chocolat chocolates this year, and he’s been kind enough to share them. Grin The lemon cheesecake in particular is amazing!

JuneFromBethesda · 28/12/2020 19:24

Always happy to read a thread about chocolate 😁 I’m getting stuck into the chocolate caramels from Hotel Chocolat my daughter gave me.

HermioneWeasley · 28/12/2020 19:26

Leonidas are my favourites, and they’re cheap as chips in Belgium. (Not so here but worth it)

CompleteBarstool · 28/12/2020 19:30

We have family in Belgium so every time we go there we come back with a big box of Leonidas.

The shops over there are amazing -air conditioned (so lovely in the summer) and you can select which chocolates you want in the box (so like a pick 'n mix only you point and they put them in the box for you).

The pralines are my favourite

TwoZeroTwoZero · 28/12/2020 19:32

Yesterday some Montezuma milk chocolate buttons and some House of Dorchester milk chocolate arrived through the post. I had some Leonidas hazelnut chocolates for Christmas. They were all divine. I've ordered some Tony's Chocolonely to see what all the fuss is about.

triceratops12 · 28/12/2020 19:33

Tony's chocolate is the best! Tastes like old chocolate!

NewyearNewme2021 · 28/12/2020 19:35

It isn't pointless because I hadn't heard of Leonidis chocolate before but I have a friend who loves quality chocs so now I know what to get them for birthday

AnnaMagnani · 28/12/2020 19:36

They sell Leonidas in the UK? It's fantastic.

Can't get on with Tony's at all.

eurochick · 28/12/2020 19:37

If you like those you will have to try Neuhaus. IMO they are the best of the mainstream Belgian brands.

billy1966 · 28/12/2020 19:39

Love the pralines.
One of my favourite chocolates.
That and Lindt red balls....of which I have received an alarming number...was really hoping to see my waist again in 21!🙄😁

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 28/12/2020 19:41

Oh god, Leonidas fresh cream Manon Cafe chocs are my favourite things ever. I used to work mere feet away from a Leonidas cafe. How I miss it...

CaraDuneRedux · 28/12/2020 19:44

Leonidas were the high spot of work trips to Brussels back when I used to go out there regularly. I am jealous, OP.

LaPampa · 28/12/2020 19:45

I used to work very near a leonidas. If you bought a coffee they’d give you a choc. No wonder I have so much more spending money now I don’t work in the city!

mygenericusername · 28/12/2020 19:52

“They sell Leonidas in the UK? It's fantastic.”

The only place you used to be able get Leonidas was by hauling your butt into the Harrods food hall and getting in the heaving queue.

It sounds like there may now be other optionsSmile

Misandrylovescompany · 28/12/2020 19:55

Rococo Chocolates is always my answer on these threads. Never found anything better. Have won over all family and friends who thought they knew what the best chocolate was. They were all wrong. Try it, you won’t regret it.

caperplips · 28/12/2020 19:59

Lots of leonidas love here!
I'm in Ireland & we have a shop in town. Yo I can select your own from a big display or buy pre-packed boxes.
I have a box 3 layers deep & I haven't finished the 1st layer yet despite trying! There was 13 in the first layer.
They're v rich so 3 is the most I have managed so far in 1 sitting
Thanks for all the other recommendations I shall check them out
