(Lighthearted!) Thanks for this DH. In the almost 20 years LOTRs has been out, I have never once bought any merchandise (despite how much I love it!), I regularly have clear outs, don’t have tat and ornaments or clutter anywhere. Our house is modern and this is oldy worldly. It doesn’t fit at all!

I have a “safe” list of stuff that always goes down well. Or I could have suggested something I would use. Photo frames, Mac make up, etc

Frame it and put it on the wall in the downstairs toilet, start some sort of "randoms" gallery 🤣

I find this MN habit of describing anything ornamental/non-practical as ‘tat’ very odd.

It’s not a MN thing for me. I’m not sentimental and hate “stuff” ever since I was a child.

Not a competition but I got a stuffed owl and an etching of our local telecoms building. Both were somewhat of a surprise.

Ah no I got given a beautiful necklace by my son (I'm not into Lotr more Harry Potter Star Wars mandalorian ) it's something Aragon gave Arwen but it's lush . He got it because he thought it was pretty! I thought it was a symbol of love ! 😂

I got a book I'd chucked out many years ago. One of those the year you were born bits of junk no-one ever reads.

I know it was mine that I threw out cos It have my name written in my handwriting on the first page.....

Always check the first page of second hand books....
