Stuck in Dover

No AIBU. Just stuck in my car in gridlocked Dover with a two year old. Only about two minutes from home. Been here half an hour now. Lots of traffic building up behind me. Plenty of people turning around. Anyone fancy keeping me company?

@XmasGridlock

Well, fucking great. Turns out four size 5 nappies weren't quite absorbent enough for the amount of pee I had. So, now I'm stuck in traffic, going on for almost two hours now, sat in my own fucking urine.
Wait, what???

WTF?

Confused
XmasGridlock · 23/12/2020 11:56

Shit. Just remembered I left my back door unlocked. Thought I was only going to be out ten minutes. Hope we haven't been robbed. That would be the icing on the cake.

@MaskingForIt

If you’re behind the wheel of your car in traffic, albeit stationary, you should not be using your phone. I hope a policeman goes past and gives you three points on your licence.
And the Jobsworh of the Year Award goes to ....
Justiceisblind · 23/12/2020 11:57

is there anything useful in the car for soaking up the you know what or dealing with the oncoming smell?
I feel you need a project OP :)

ilhahih · 23/12/2020 11:58

Hope you are home soon.
And for future reference, in an emergency open the front and back doors of the car and crouch between for a wee to avoid spillages inside the car.

XmasGridlock · 23/12/2020 11:59

The good thing about having a toddler is that the car is full of crap but lots of handy supplies.

No one can make a quick getaway.

You'll be fine. Its not like they someone carry much on foot.

jellybeanz1212 · 23/12/2020 12:02

Ahhhno what a nightmare. I hope you're home soon .

ScouseQueen · 23/12/2020 12:02

Best of luck with the last bit OP. Back door shouldn't be a problem. I once walked out and left the front door not only unlocked, but open, to go to soft play. Amazingly nothing was taken!

RedToothBrush · 23/12/2020 12:02

Unless you have lettuce and broccoli on display
In which case you might be in trouble OP....

Or loo rolls.
pinkbalconyrailing · 23/12/2020 12:04

why, oh why didn't you just walk?

LizzieMacQueen · 23/12/2020 12:05

Feel your pain OP. Can you cancel your 2pm and have a relax at home instead?

Clymene · 23/12/2020 12:06

I'm sure the OP is wishing she had now. Hindsight is a wonderful thing
neithernor · 23/12/2020 12:07

Sitting in a hospital room waiting for a test and am also invested. We were stuck for 8 hours once while the police talked a suicide off a bridge. Fortunately lots of trees around.

Sexnotgender · 23/12/2020 12:07

What a pain. Hope you’re home soon.

Simarilion · 23/12/2020 12:10

Oh no! I hope you got the prescription so wasn't a wasted journey from/to hell. I've heard alcohol is good for spot cleaning stains & smells- might be worth trying some alcohol hand gel to wee stains later (disclaimer I have no idea if this might remove colour from fabric too)

BlackeyedSusan · 23/12/2020 12:10

Spray the seat with antibac spray once you have mopped up what you can. It stops the smell forming.

BlackeyedSusan · 23/12/2020 12:12

Unfortunately I do have experience with cars and per.

Pee. Bastards autocorrect

HosannainExcelSheets · 23/12/2020 12:14

There's a special fabreeze spray for pet urine. It works really well on cat pee. Might be worth ba try.

@XmasGridlock I work in Dover and I'm so glad yesterday was my last day until after Christmas. You have my sympathy, the traffic there was bad yesterday, it looks like madness today. Good luck !

LisaLee333 · 23/12/2020 12:21

Poor lorry drivers. Sad

LisaLee333 · 23/12/2020 12:22

OP has gone quiet. Wonder if @XmasGridlock is on the road home now. Wink

Or maybe just enjoying reading some of the last few posts on the previous page. Wink
