Stuck in Dover

No AIBU. Just stuck in my car in gridlocked Dover with a two year old. Only about two minutes from home. Been here half an hour now. Lots of traffic building up behind me. Plenty of people turning around. Anyone fancy keeping me company?

No driving home for Christmas yet.

@InTheDrunkTank

TO be fair if everyone abandons their cars and walks home surely that will make the traffic far, far worse.
SmellyPooHead · 23/12/2020 11:19

The poor police
I hope you get home soon @XmasGridlock

XmasGridlock · 23/12/2020 11:19

Nowhere to park up. If I do spot somewhere I will park up and walk. Really need a wee now.

Will you be able to run home, have a wee and get back to your car without traffic having moved in the meantime? (Obvs don't abandon the toddler!)

HagenDaz · 23/12/2020 11:21

My sympathies OP. Can you do a Paula Radcliffe?

Justiceisblind · 23/12/2020 11:21

link to REM vid please.

There's that "Road to Hell" song we had during the petrol strike....

I think OP needs a good playlist here as she may still be there when "Hancock's Half Hour" comes on this afternoon.....

XmasGridlock · 23/12/2020 11:21

It's a shit situation for sure but tbh, I'd rather be stuck in my car for a few hours than down at the Port or up at Manston. Feel utterly terrible for the Lorry Drivers and Police right now.

OP posts:
Justiceisblind · 23/12/2020 11:22

Also OP you should do a ticktok....

XmasGridlock · 23/12/2020 11:23

Will run out of petrol before I get home at this rate.

XMas gridlock. It sounds awful. No help to you now but I have found Pharmacy4U to be an enormous help. They are efficient, quick and the system is easy to use. Hoping that this post will help others as well.

InTheDrunkTank · 23/12/2020 11:24

@perditasugarplum

That made me giggle how did that video not come into my head when I wrote that?

Justiceisblind · 23/12/2020 11:24

petrol-wise I would have thought you'd be ok OP if you're just idling.

Can you switch engine off?

RedToothBrush · 23/12/2020 11:27

@HagenDaz

My sympathies OP. Can you do a Paula Radcliffe?
OMG. Thats made me laugh. But poor OP. There's nothing that makes you want to pee more than knowing you can't go as there's no toilet.
mylittleyumyum · 23/12/2020 11:28

I'm thoroughly invested. How's the little one holding up?

KatherineOfGaunt · 23/12/2020 11:29

A relative lives in Selsey and there's basically one road in and one out. She got stuck in traffic a few miles from home once and got desperate for the loo. She tried to wee in a bottle, I think, but it didn't work. At least it was dark! OP, do you have a container, if you're really desperate?

XmasGridlock · 23/12/2020 11:29

Two year old is being brilliant. He's got a drink and is being wonderfully well behaved.

OP posts:
noelgiraffe · 23/12/2020 11:30

Got any nappies you could wee into as a last resort? I hear they're pretty absorbent.

Yes to the nappies. Got stuck in France at the channel tunnel a year and a half ago and used several nappies discretely placed underneath me!

@MaskingForIt you are a right little Ray of Christmas sunshine Biscuit

GnomeDePlume · 23/12/2020 11:34

Much sympathy OP. We once got stuck in a many hours queue waiting to cross the border from France to Spain. DS got very distressed as he thought we were going to be stuck there forever and the car had become our home.

XmasGridlock · 23/12/2020 11:34

😂😂😂😂😂
I hope the police do come past. Then I can ask to borrow one of their hats to pee in. Smile
