Don’t watch The Crown? I mean individually, on their iPads in the bathroom
Not all sat around the TV 😂
How could they not?!!

I do know a priest (RC obvs) that has never watched a single episode of Fr Ted but he’s particularly devout...

I think the younger royals will be as glued as the rest of us

Nah. I worked with offenders and didn't watch any crime sluff. Busman's holiday, innit.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 15/11/2020 22:18

I'd say they've all seen bits and I'd say even if some choose not to they have a designated member or members to watch it and report back how different things are portrayed

Crankley · 15/11/2020 22:19

It isn't a documentary, it's a work of fiction, I doubt they will be that interested.

SachaStark · 15/11/2020 22:19

Isn’t the Queen supposedly a big fan of the show?

Anyway, I’m the same as a PP: am a teacher, and have never watched a single episode of “Educating Insert-Place-Name.” Too much like more work after work.

SOboredofcleaning · 15/11/2020 22:28

The Queen watches it.

nildesparandum · 15/11/2020 22:36

I am a retired nurse and never watch a hospital drama, not one of them.
I had two terrible childbirths so never watch OBEM or any childbirth programme.IMO childbirth is not a form of entertainment.

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/11/2020 22:39

@SOboredofcleaning

The Queen watches it.
That sounds like an "isn't she a women of the people" fake leak.
Paintedmaypole · 15/11/2020 22:42

I definitely wouldn't watch it if I were them, it would irritate me to see a distorted unreal version of my life. I have not watched it because I think it's unfair and I am not a monarchist or fan of the RF.

BrumBoo · 15/11/2020 22:44

I think Princess Anne may have seen bits. Her documentary for her 70th suggested she thought it was a bit odd, and took it mostly with a pinch of salt. Prince Phillip has been alleged to say its (i paraphrase, possibly) a load of bollocks, so must have seen a bit of it Grin.

No, its not a documentary but it does follow history. The drama added inbetween the history though, well I'm sure they've taken some liberties there.

furloughandfallow · 15/11/2020 22:56

I wonder if they watch The Windsors as well? That's hilarious.

slipperywhensparticus · 15/11/2020 22:58

They might be royal but they are also human i would have thought curiosity would mean an episode or two

IcedPurple · 15/11/2020 23:00

The Windsors is fab. I love "Puppah" even though she's nothing like the 'real' thing!
RudeAF · 15/11/2020 23:01

It’s hardly the same as watching a documentary or show about your profession is it. I wouldn’t be able to resist.

IcedPurple · 15/11/2020 23:03

They may watch The Crown or they may not. Remember they are used to stuff being written about them every single day - some of which is true but some of which is crap - and there have been loads of TV dramas and films about them too, so this isn't such a big deal for them. If it were me I don't think I'd watch as it would drive me nuts!

asprinklingofsugar · 15/11/2020 23:07

I could see some of the younger royals like Eugenie and Beatrice and their husbands, Zara and Mike etc watching it. Primarily because their parents aren’t a massive focus in it. I wouldn’t be surprised if William and Kate/Harry and Meghan had watched the earlier seasons, but I don’t see them being overly keen on watching this one or the next couple for obvious reasons

Ridikulusness · 15/11/2020 23:11

They apparently do! Will and Kate love it (Will particularly loves that Kate’s portrayed as a gypsy) and Edward and Sophie have watched it with the Queen. That’s if you believe everything you read of course, but it sounds plausible.
WindsorBlues · 15/11/2020 23:12

I read that Sophie watches it with the Queen. I'd love to think that Camilla watches the Windsors.

redfairy · 15/11/2020 23:31

I would love to think that Fergie, Eugenie and Beatrice watch The Windsors. Hello Gulls!

donquixotedelamancha · 16/11/2020 00:06

Whenever I watch any drama set in a school I always switch it off in frustration at how silly it is.

I imagine it similar for Liz- sat there in her dressing gown screaming 'no, that's nothing like how we had Dianna murdered' at the telly before throwing a corgie at the screen in disgust and

Yes, but you would watch it if it was about your own school, wouldn't you?
Dahlietta · 16/11/2020 00:09

I do know a priest (RC obvs) that has never watched a single episode of Fr Ted but he’s particularly devout...

Thank don’t think that’s really a relevant comparison! I’m a teacher and I never watched Teachers or Waterloo Road, but they weren’t actually about me

Dahlietta · 16/11/2020 00:10

Oh, x-post!

Or freaking out because its about to expose her and her family neglecting 2 family members in a mental hospital for over 50 years and actually had them buried in Pauper Graves...Or the missing aboriginal children in Canada
donquixotedelamancha · 16/11/2020 00:18

Yes, but you would watch it if it was about your own school, wouldn't you?

Oh Christ no, I don't like seeing that level of violence on telly.

Parkmama · 16/11/2020 00:26

Yes I definitely think some of the younger generation watch it. Anyone with a Netflix account at some point in their evening is scrolling through to find something, I don't think they're any different to the rest of us. Season 4 is probably tricky for William and Harry, it's not going to be entertaining for them but I'm sure other RF members will take a look.
