Trump is going to throw a serious temper tantrum. Hopefully he won’t be able to do too much harm in the couple of months before changeover!

3ormorecharacters · 06/11/2020 09:44

@cantdothisnow1

What's troubling me is the [number] of people on twitter who are crying democrat fraud.

Piers Morgan has just tweeted the lead in Georgia and the responses are shocking. People actually believe Trump!

Yep. It's going to be very difficult to put this genie back in the bottle. This is where social media can be so dangerous.
Igotjelly · 06/11/2020 09:44

Whoop whoop Georgia be blue!!!!

PotholePalace · 06/11/2020 09:44

Georgia Grin

Come on over Pennsylvania, you know you want to.

PullTheBricksDown · 06/11/2020 09:44

The Putin story seems to be that he will step down next year. Supposedly he has Parkinson's.

Could understand Trump losing military votes this time. He's shown such contempt for them.

ListenLinda · 06/11/2020 09:45

Just seen about Georgia.

Awaiting Trumps latest twitter rant...

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 06/11/2020 09:46

It’s being touted that it contained the most lies he’s ever told in one speech!

Bloody hell really?

Deffo gonna find it, i did stay up to watch it but he was late!

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2020 09:47

Is it just CNN reporting the Georgia numbers? Can't see it anywhere else

SabrinaThwaite · 06/11/2020 09:48

Pennsylvania will have an automatic recount if the result is within 0.5% of the number of ballots cast - that’s going to be around the 35,000 mark.

anon444877 · 06/11/2020 09:48

It's impressive that CNBC and NBC etc have called out Trump's lies - it looks safe that Biden will win but he's not over the line yet. Amazing take downs of him.

The Colbert clip was heart rending.

The bbc too.

Phoenix21 · 06/11/2020 09:49

It’s all over twitter. Is 917 enough?

Military - suckers and losers, Russia paying for soldiers lives (or whatever that story was). Im no expert but I can see how many might turn blue.

Oh and that navy ship infected with Covid. Plus McCain, how respected generals have been treated.

Octothorpe · 06/11/2020 09:49

I've discovered I can have CNN on my iPad while watching this thread, so I can hear it as a live feed in the background. I'm possibly over-invested.

They're doing a great job of pointing out exactly how and why the Trump tantrums are completely baseless.

Phoenix21 · 06/11/2020 09:50

I haven’t watched it yet but trump ‘speech’

@Runningdownthathill I think the only person Melania cares about is Barron. Theres a video floating around with a young Barron getting ready to start school and Trump talking to him and it was like a stranger talking to some random child, no affection in his voice for his child.

lovemincepies · 06/11/2020 09:51

Can any of you lovely posters post some links to some take downs? Would give me a warm feeling of cheer while I drink coffee Smile

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2020 09:52

Ok it seems like others are catching up, Sky news now reporting it as well.

Just wanted to make sure, you never know in this election, caution needed

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 09:52

@BlueCatRedCat

CNN live channel show Georgia is blue and tally is 917. Discussing out now.

Whoever called Arizona did so way too early. That one will go to Trump in all likelihood.

It was definitely called early, but should stay blue. Don't panic. Just yet.

Its also irrelevant if PA and GA go blue.

A local observer tweeted this 7hrs ago.

DJ Quinlan @djquinlan
Arizona results thread, context edition: Pima County late early votes are not the same as the county as a whole! We expected the whole batch of outstanding Pima votes to favor marginally. Trump was up slightly in the first half. Doesn't change the expected outcome.

Big Maricopa update coming at 7PM. Should be over 100k with a big Trump advantage. 59% is over/under for Trump keeping it interesting. Let's see what that looks like, but so far today has gone pretty close to expected.

More context: big Maricopa update coming shortly, but so far today 67,767 ballots counted mostly on Trump turf, and Trump has a 57/40 margin. Trump needs all of the remaining ballots to perform at 57%, and the second half of Maricopa just isn't that friendly for him.

75,314 Maricopa votes counted: Trump 42,276 (56.13%, Biden 31,700 (42.09%). Trump needed more from this batch.

143k ballots counted today, and I hear 280k to go. Trump hit 56.69% Trump needed 57% heading into today with all outstanding ballots. The remaining ballots are less favorable to Republicans. Like I said from the beginning, Trump had votes to cut the margin, but not take a lead.

and then 2hrs ago

DJ Quinlan @djquinlan
Update on remaining Arizona votes: 285k votes remaining. Trump needs 58%. Remaining Maricopa will not help Trump. I expect votes counted tomorrow to give us clarity on the final result. My original projection stands.Arizona's 11 electoral votes will go to Joe Biden.

This tallies with what the Biden camp had said - they expect a narrowing in Arizona but not enough to cause a problem and they expect the very last batches in Arizona to be more favourable to Biden.

The cavet here is whether there are more votes yet to come in, and just how many. Thats the spanner that could be thrown in the works, but as it stands thinks are looking ok.

It is possible Trump could still win, but it does look like Biden should hang on.

Thank you for that information! I've now got it on my phone in the corner as well whilst I refresh everything else. No sleep for me today!
MrsMigginsMate · 06/11/2020 09:53

Is Fox news usually pro-Trump? There's one of the big networks that is usually his mouthpiece isn't there? Have they turned on him yet or are they perpetuating the idea that the Dem have committed election fraud?

Forgive my ignorance, I'm still learning as I haven't really followed US politics before.

lovemincepies · 06/11/2020 09:54

Fox News massively pro-trump. They massively helped elect Trump.

lovemincepies · 06/11/2020 09:55

Thank goodness UK does not have Fox News.

When Trump has the state visit he moaned about the UK not having Fox News.

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 09:56

Brendan Keefe @BrendanKeefe
A lot of people are mentioning the military ballots in Georgia. The Sec of State says 8,800 overseas and military ballots were requested & not returned. Georgia allows those to be returned as late as COB Friday if postmarked by Nov 3.
2016: 12,432 included 5,203 military ballots.

So total there were 12,432 military & overseas ballots returned and of those 5,203 were military. There are 8,800 ballots unreturned this year. Military and overseas ballots already returned are part of the standard absentee count reflected in the current reported vote.

So there are 8800 possible ballots to come in but its likely that the majority were simply never returned. We are not going to yet huge numbers suddenly appearing from no where.

That means that any lead Biden now builds up over the next few hours is likely to hold until the postal deadline today.

Admitting I'm hardly doing any work today as I now have CNN open and playing on a second tab of my work computer. Other tabs are MN and Twitter, thank the Lord for WFH!!

StirlingFloss · 06/11/2020 09:56

Ah but Andrew Neil has just left the BBC to set up his own version of Fox News UK. Can't wait Angry

InglouriousBasterd · 06/11/2020 09:57

Go Georgia! Following with my panicky face in a thesis and ears on CNN Grin
