@Cloudesley

Who thinks this will make a fantastic Netflix movie in a few years time? Behind the scenes chez Trump etc. "Election 2020 The True Story" or some such. I wonder who would play Trump but the guy from Mad Men would be good as Biden!
Scrotus is going to want to play himself, write the script, and direct the movie. The title will be "How My Throne Was Illegally Stolen".
DuncinToffee · 06/11/2020 14:47

And remember both Georgia and Arizona have Republic governors Grin

knittingaddict · 06/11/2020 14:48

@ApolloandDaphne

Trump is weirdly quiet on Twitter. I wonder what is going on in the White House right now?
Sedated? For his own and everyone else's safety.

From CNN's live reporting:

A republican lawyer in Pennsylvania, who is not part of the Trump legal team but is familiar with election challenges, says legal challenges in the commonwealth get Trump nowhere.

This is missing the point. The lawsuits have been launched not to be won but to firmly establish the "stolen election" narrative in the minds of the Trump cultists and fellow travellers. This is the start of the next phase, outside the White House, which likely to be a long game.

Isn't is just, I like the colour changing

Lweji · 06/11/2020 14:50

This will be your favourite one time President.

Listening to news that GOP doesn't seem inclined to support his legal challenges.
I think most GOP would probably rather work with Biden than the mad hater.

I agree.

Jon Ralston @RalstonReports (Editor, The Nevada Independent)
Trump team saying election not over, including:

"In Nevada, there appear to be thousands of individuals who improperly cast mail ballots."

No. No. There are not.

Bogus list they sent to DOJ contains military folks who cast absentees. And at least one person I know.
1/

Former NV journo living abroad emails to tell me his and his wife, who maintain their residency, were on that list the crack law firm of Trump, Laxalt, McDonald, Grenell and Schlapp sent to DOJ. They voted. Legally. The list is also rife with postal codes that show their lies.
2/

Many on list sent to the DOJ have these postal codes: AE, AA and AP: Armed Forces Europe, Armed Forces Americas and Armed Forces Pacific.

That is, Nevadans in the military who sent absentees.

Incompetence or fraud, gentlemen?

Why does Team Trump hate NV military personnel?

I worry about the EC ELectors tbh.

And I had hoped the Senate would flip. And look at the popular vote, yes Biden leads/led but still.

Someone tell me to stop being so gloomy Grin

I don’t disagree but I don’t understand the motivations.

Trump himself seems to be largely driven by narcissism - why are the others going along with it?

Igotjelly · 06/11/2020 14:55

Rumours that Fox are about to call it according to CNN.

anon444877 · 06/11/2020 14:56

well, you could say GOP might be seeking to tighten up rules around mail in ballots for when Ivanka runs against Kamala since mail in ballots have turned out to be a good getting out their vote strategy for democrats.

That's why a lot are going along with it I reckon. Gerrymandering for next time. Setting legal precedents.

Nancydrawn · 06/11/2020 14:56

The PA GOP legislative chair has said that Pennsylvania's electors will vote along with the outcome of the PA election--no faithless electors there.

Fox news memo tells staff to not refer to Biden as 'President Elect', according to CNN.

Fox are notorious for being pro Trump

But surely the more lawsuits they try that get chucked out, the more they weaken their own case by making it look like they're grasping at straws?

My eyes are on Arizona now. The Trump team are certain that they'll get it. It will be a big blow to them if Biden clings on there. They haven't been criticising the integrity of the race there because he thinks he'll win it, so he'll have to do a pretty abrupt about-turn to call that one a fix too.

MrsMigginsMate · 06/11/2020 14:59

Surely Kamala would never be successful if she ran in 2024 against Ivanka? It would sadly come down to white versus black in a country that is still terribly racist.

QuestionableDanceMoves · 06/11/2020 15:00

CNN reporting seeing a memo to Fox staff forbidding staff to refer to Biden as President-Elect

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 15:00

INteresting.

CNN's last article on their live feed was titled
'Trump campaign says it will challenge Biden's victory'

Its just been changed to read
'Trump campaign says it will challenge a potential Biden victory'

So they are more or less there with declaring it themselves... just (trying) not admitting it yet.

anon444877 · 06/11/2020 15:02

I don't know how Kamala would poll, poss too early to say, or if she'd get nominated. I know she was smeared for being anti-catholic, don't know if that would be an issue.

PerkingFaintly · 06/11/2020 15:03

Also, re comments about the Republicans reigning "their guy" in...

Trump is not the Republican party's guy. He's the alien that's bursting out of the Republican party's chest.

The Republican party was just the host for him and his sponsors.

It's really important that people understand this. I've been frustrated over the last few years by the number of people (esp long-serving political pundits) who simply hadn't seem to grasp this: it's why they kept getting surprised.

I think a lot of folk have now caught on, but it's easy to fall back into traditional political tropes. It's dangerous to do so.

And I say all this with an eye to the UK. Johnson and Gove both protect Cummings, and Cummings has told us who he is. The Tory party is merely the host for Cummings and his fellow-travellers – who haven't even exposed themselves for election but have gone for the unelected route to power-behind-the-throne.

We need to keep our eye on the ball.

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2020 15:04

Rick Hasen @rickhasen

So far none of the legal suits have even potential to change election outcome, given what we know about the outstanding vote and how election was run).
Nor has there ever been statewide recount to pick up something like the 20K votes in WI (GA could be different but not decisive)

Ninetyseventhirtyfive · 06/11/2020 15:06

New here but just curious about the comments on Kamala going for the presidency in 2024, has Biden said he'll not go for a second term? And if she lost the primary she'd no longer be VP I assume
...bit confused! Would love it to he as early as 2024 for her but I was assuming 2028
