@MerchantOfVenom

I don't know why Melania Trump is being called anything. Has she committed a criminal offence?

The whole shower of them - Junior, Eric, Donald, Ivanka - are being called all manner of names.

You don’t have to have committed a ‘criminal offence’ to be up for criticism.

Anyone in the public eye is up for criticism but name calling? That's just childish
StirlingFloss · 05/11/2020 22:31

@tobee CNN are saying Pennsylvania will be next, and as there's 20 Electoral Votes, this would clinch it for Biden without needing the other states...

lionheart · 05/11/2020 22:31

PA I think.

Some speculation that the smaller states don't want to be front and centre if their completed counts prove to be decisive.

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 05/11/2020 22:31

Apparently Trump's team tried to get him to go and do some presidential work earlier, eg meeting people impacted by Coronavirus
Trump hasn’t attended a coronavirus meeting in MONTHS and yet not even elected yet Biden has been having meetings today bringing him up to speed with it. Biden is already doing more presidential work than the current president!

FFS:

Steve Bannon: “I'd put the heads [of Wray and Fauci] on pikes, right, I'd put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats. You either get with the program or you're gone!”

CaveMum · 05/11/2020 22:33

BBC saying we “should” have a result within the next 24 hours.

Also commenting that the Republican leadership are very noticeably quiet about backing their President. - as they put it, they’re usually very good at finding TV cameras.

😆

lionheart · 05/11/2020 22:34

Anyone able to watch Fox (or bear it)?

StirlingFloss · 05/11/2020 22:34

@EveryoneRevealsThemselves yeah, Biden's speech was so presidential and a breath of fresh air. But when you actually think about it, he just said the normal thing you'd expect from someone in his position. But we've had 4 years of Trump's nonsense and I feel I've forgotten what it looks like to see a POTUS acting with some dignity and a sense of duty.

RedToothBrush · 05/11/2020 22:34

@tobee

Which state are people predicting we'll be hearing from definitively from first? And roughly when? Or do we have no clue? I've got lost now!
Georgia getting close to end of counting (maybe 3 or 4 hours time if you are lucky) But may not be a 'result' as such due to being so close. Recount likely.

Pennsylviania most likely next. We are waiting for the point Biden over takes Trump. We will probably see the news agencies starting to call at this point. It could be over night but I think we are now more likely to be hitting tomorrow.

Then Nevada seems likely to be next to get a reasonably good answer, followed by Arizonia.

North Carolina next week.

tobee · 05/11/2020 22:35

Thanks @StirlingFloss and @lionheart

tobee · 05/11/2020 22:35

Ooh and thanks too @RedToothBrush

RedToothBrush · 05/11/2020 22:36

should clarify -

'hitting tomorrow morning uk time - maybe breakfast time'.

MerchantOfVenom · 05/11/2020 22:36

Nice one!

tobee · 05/11/2020 22:36

👍

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 05/11/2020 22:37

Donald Trump JR has been calling for “total war on this election”.
twitter have suspended his account. AGAIN

lionheart · 05/11/2020 22:37

326,000 votes left to count in PA...

RedToothBrush · 05/11/2020 22:37

'Meaningful' result for senate in Arizona.

Democrat by 4.2%.

(Usually they follow the Presidential race pattern. But not always. So a possible handy indicator).

derxa · 05/11/2020 22:37

@Roussette

The whole lot of them are grifters. Jared and Ivanka made $90million last year, whilst supposedly working in the WH. Trump's business (which he supposedly divested himself of.... yeah right...) made $1.9bn whilst in office. His Washington hotel hosts foreign leaders and dignitaries. That goes against the emoluments clause which means the POTUS shouldn't profit from the office of president, he ignores it, and does. Ivanka and her chinese trademarks granted after she visited China on official business.... coffins and voting machines being 2 of them.

Grifters grift. And they do.
It's all about a moral compass, dont think any of them have one.

Oh Roussette. Grifter means swindler not opportunist. There is a difference. I couldn't care less about any of them. Trumps Clintons Obamas Bushes Kennedys They're all well off and have made money from the Presidency
RedToothBrush · 05/11/2020 22:39

Trump not planning to concede - campaign official

President Trump is not planning to throw in the towel simply because Joe Biden declares victory, CBS reports, quoting a senior Trump campaign official.

“In a free and fair election, the president will win,” CBS quotes the official as saying.

@CaraDuneRedux

I object to women being called 'grifter'. But if that's acceptable on this thread then carry on Confused

What's wrong with the word "grifter"? Would it be acceptable if someone said "Melania knew all along what she was getting into and has cynically stood by a man she obviously hates for her own personal financial gain, while, by her actions, propping up his political decisions"?

Is it the word in particular, or the analysis you object to?

This. Pretty patronising to decide that it's never acceptable to call a woman out on poor behaviour, as if Melania can't have had any agency in making the choices she has.
Roussette · 05/11/2020 22:41

Not anywhere near as much as this shower! They use the public purse as their own money.

Poor old Jimmy Carter had to give up his peanut farm lol.

OK... opportunist. That'll do nicely Grin

Roussette · 05/11/2020 22:42

Melania knows exactly what she is doing.
