Rousette - I don’t think my old guy is on Twitter, he shares his daily blog posts on FB. He’s Jon Katz, Bedlam Farm (he blogs a lot about his farm which I admit, I skip. I’m just there for his calm, clear-eyed takes on the election campaign. He’s also dyslexic (crappy affliction for a journo), so bare that in mind when the odd typo pops up).
This is what he has just posted, as part of a longer blog, today...
Be careful. Signs on lawns, trucks, and flags do not predict elections. A key part of Trump’s re-election strategy is to make as much noise as possible – flags, caravans, lawn signs, posters. His supporters are louder and more fervent than Biden’s.
That does not make them more numerous. In this election, and because he refused to expand his following, he will run out of fanatic supporters. There are just not enough of them, whether they are shy or not.
(I have held onto this very important point these last few months - there aren’t enough of them, and he’s done nothing, not a thing, to expand their numbers).
I know a lot of people, right and left, who are Biden supporters. I asked about 20 of them online if they had a Biden-Harris sign on their lawns. Only one said yes. They aren’t into signs and flags.
The Trumpsters are convinced it’s in the bag because their guys make the most noise.
Time will tell who’s right and who’s wrong, and as so said upthread, I believe it’s the other side’s turn for the upset. 🙏
